Ya, it sure killed the careers of Steve Young, Brett Favre, and most recently Phillip Rivers having to sit down and wait for their turn...

That said, I think it should be Matt's job to lose.. We know who we have in Kurt Warner. Yes, we do need to see who we have in Matt Leinart..

Um... I get the Steve Young reference, and even Rivers, but Favre? He was thrown in as a starter very early in his career.

My bad, I thought he sat in Atlanta a couple of seasons before the trade... Turns out it was only one..

If Matt has not LOCKED his spot by the last pre-season...Kurt gets the keys.

Note to Matt: Stay loose, we will need you before the run is done.

We know who we have in Kurt Warner.
Actually, I'm wondering if Warner is trying to completely acclimate himself to Haley and his system or are they incorporating aspects from Warner(since it appeared to be successful last year) into what they would have done? My impression is that Warner is going to just do what he has to do to make the coaches happy(since that's the only possible chance of getting to play). I am curious to see how Leinart and Warner respond to a second year in the system where they, and everyone else, aren't thinking so much.

I guess the goal is to have what they had in Pittsburgh but Ben was pretty critical of Whis after he left and actually had a better year without him. Did Ben not fit what Whis wanted to do or does Whis need to adjust his approach?

I think personally it's because Whiz wants a controlled running attack type of offense and Rothlisberger likes to gunsling it if he can.

I want to think about this for a minute...

Drew Brees was doing very well in San Diego, well enough there is a lot of argument about Rivers or Brees. They get rid of Brees to remove the contraversy

Manning versus Warner? What happened, Warner is out... Manning stands alone.

I can think of half a dozen more examples in history where this type of thing plays out. Most of the time, it ends with the veteran being shipped out so that the debate stops. Does it always work out for the best? No... sometimes, the heir apparent isn't better or even good. Can it work out? Yes, beautifully.

In my mind, the griping about the decisions, the fan drama, etc will just lead to us having to trade or release Warner. I really don't want to see that happens, there is something nice about having two quality QBs. (Or two quality WRs).

Lets just let the coaches do their thing... if Leinart can't handle it, he'll be out. Whiz has already shown he'll do what he has to to win.

Guy's let us stop all of this QB bull. Matt is or future, Kurt is the best back-up in the NFL. We did the same thing to Jake, then Josh, now Matt. The NYG's were right in grooming Eli over Kurt and We should do the same. We will never become a top flight team in the NFL unless we have a QB like Matt to be groomed for the future. The thought of winning now has hurt this team it never established a good young QB here in AZ. We as fans have always found fault. Matt is our future so damn it live with it.
Jake was given the reins outright, no competition. I don't see how you could possibly compare Plummer's situation in Arizona to Leinart's? They are not even remotely similar, except that the QB position always is and remains the topic of the greatest amount of discussion and controversy.

While your examples may fit the situation, you are grossly mistaken as to the cause of the subsequent decisions. You are greatly overestimating the influence of a few guys squabbling on an internet message board!

You were not sitting where I was sitting with the players wife's. They either wanted Grisson, Brown or Gosh Yelling and and screaming all the time. Jake situation is so similar to Jakes that it makes me sick. Know one seems to remember how they all wanted someone else to play instead of Jake. It didn't matter that he got hurt or the owners let his OL get depleted with the lose of Lomas Brown or the Lose of Larry Centers, or the lose of Jamar Miller. Which hurt bothe the offense and defence that made Jake feel that he had to carry the team on his shoulders. I guess the Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Give me a break if God was our QB of the Future and Kurt was here you would rather have Kurt QB. I am not saying that Matt's GOD. Just using a metaphor. OK. I know that some of you will not get it. But most of you will.

There was no one else...

Granted the team sucked but Jake was given every chance possible here. Let's agree to disagree on this. Plummer is long gone and it doesn't matter.

On this point you couldn't be more wrong. I don't care which QB starts, Leinart or Warner; it makes not a bit of difference to me. I just care that whichever starts gives the Cardinals the best chance to win. I trust that Ken Whisenhunt will make the correct decision which QB that will be.

Who should start the season as QB1?

This poll will remain open until the NO game.

I think not only will we see Leinart and Warner but some of the other QB's as well. As to who starts I do not care or think it makes any difference.

Some of you folks that use Eli Manning as an example of why we need to stick w/ Matt need to get a much better example. Mannings numbers since Kurt left have been pedestrian to say the least.

He had 23 td's, 20 int.'s, 13 fumbles, & a qb rating of 73.9 last year. Wow! What a stud! If it weren't for Tyree's miraculous catch in the SB, Mannings season goes down as a turd. Just like w/ Baltimore a few years ago, the Giants won b/c of their defense, not b/c of Manning.

Manning was the 18th rated qb in the NFL last year, far behind Rivers who he was traded for b/c of his temper tantrum, & behind such noteable qb's as Brunnel, Losman, Carr, & Kitna.

Manning is hardly a good example to make your case with, unless your case is that a team wins w/ defense, & NOT a good qb.

I agree in a way, but Matt needs to preform as a future QB in this League. If he doesn't play Kurt and trade Matt. Then where are we back to where we were when Lomax got hurt and we didn't get a good QB until JAKE.
