Great call to let the Broncos score with 1:30 left. As Gannon has said before, we’ll do whatever it takes to win. It’s only preseason, but nice just the same.
I guess it was maybe a little too early to take a knee. But if Payton had played it that way they could've had a chippy FG with 35 secs left.

Wow! Just wow! I know it’s a preseason game but I think we all saw what we were hoping for.
1. An actual NFL offense.
2. Not a single Wr screen.
3. Not one delay of game or a forced time out to avoid a delay of game.
4. Qb under center.
5. Crossing patterns.
6. A commitment to the running game.
7. Rookies playing with a purpose.
8. I only recall 1 penalty. Edit: 4 penalties.
9. A defense that actually looked like a defense.
10. A head coach on the sideline that looked in control, calm and poised.

Color me impressed. I’m not predicting playoffs but it was so refreshing to see a well run sidelines.

Having a head coach who trusts his coordinators to call the game is so great. It allows Gannon to oversee and manage the game.... something Kliff was never able to do.

Totally agree. It’s the thing to do whether it’s preseason or regular season. The odds of a missed 25 yd. fg as the clock runs down to nothing are slim.

Okay...I was impressed by JG... dude actually looks like a hot young up and coming NFL coach on the sidelines. He was calm and focused the entire time. Never looked out of his depth.

I was a little worried after the pee wee herman suit and the pew pew scene.....

But...we might just have a coach in the desert. Our nobody defense on the worst roster in the NFL just showed they are here against a fairly talented team with a very experienced coach. I mean... denver aint gonna win their division or nothing, but two years ago everyone considered them just a QB away from contention,... then even just last year it was just a bad coach... so what is it this year?

pre season. I know. But guys... controlled, disciplined, focused football...damn,...its amazing what a coach can do. even with a bunch of nobodys

I was telling my wife that we should let them score and get the ball back with enough time to try and tie it back up. Should have figured we'd go for two if we scored. Happens a lot at the end of preseason games.

Superbowl here we come...

To be honest I expected an organised, disciplined, composed performance. I think it's been clear from the new staff we would at least get that.

I don't think we will be a pushover team.

I only watched the first half but the defense legitimately looked good, there were a few missed coverages but the pass rush and discipline versus the run was awesome to see. Zaven, Gardeck, Clark, Ledbetter and Stills all stood out to me. I really hope Clark wins the other corner job.

Two things stood out to me: time of possession (Cards won) and turnovers (only1). Given that Cards have a new coaching staff and a lot of new, young players both those are positives. Overall, nothing to take away from the game. It’s preseason, so I’m keeping my expectations in check.

It's only preseason, so I can't pretend we've arrived or anything, but it very much felt like professional football for once, with the exclamation mark being that we were playing against the coveted Sean Payton keeping his starters in. This wasn't like those Denny Green years where we started the 1s for the whole game and declared ourselves victorious. And an aspect of our team I think we all expected to be bad, the pass rush, looked pretty good.

My buddies spent the whole time roasting Russell Wilson, who has traditionally eaten our lunch, so I like it.

Not sure it'll translate to pure wins, but winning the first one with your new coach can only help the program.

I know it is meaningless game but it is good for the team and young players to have a win. it was actually more exciting than most preseason games. Interesting that Sean Payton played his first sting almost the whole first half. Cards put lots of pressure on Russell Wilson which was good.

Agreed. Sure looked like the opposite of Coach Bro. What a relief to see us actually resemble a professional, prepared football team. I was *not* in favor of JG’s hire (preferred that Cincy D-coordinator) but I was impressed by his command of the action last night.

I liked how fast (quick/sudden) Zaven looked out on the edge, and also the way the defense was flying around. They looked fired up.

For us (who follow the teams every move) it's easy to see all the little things that are changing for the better. There's cause for optimism.
