I would have written just about the same thing. I think this is a team that could be fun to watch, especially if everyone gets healthy and stays healthy. They wouldn't surprise me if they made a run at 90 wins, nor would it shock me if they were in the 70's.

They've already exceeded my expectations.
Well done, Chip

Right now the Dbacks are on pace for 74 wins after 20% of the season

Guess that makes you the 1/5 point winner.
I really wouldn't base any projection on the the first 20% of this season.Right now the Dbacks are on pace for 74 wins after 20% of the season

The greatest variable right now is our starting pitching staff. With the starters who will be coming off injuries, the potential for improvement is there.
No guarantee . . . but potential. Which I took into account when I predicted a record of 82-80. That is only a six game turnaround from the current projection of 74-88.
If I had to bet, I would bet that we would do better, not worse, than the 82-80.
This, of course, is based on no major injury (emphasis on major) taking place.
LOL. No, I am a D-backs fan. With a straight face. Am I supposed to be ashamed of that?you're telling me, with a straight face, that you think the DBacks are going to play BETTER than .500 baseball for the rest of the season? are you a used car salesman?

And I believe, as I mentioned, that the return of injured starters to our pitching staff will make us a different team during the final 2/3 of the season.
Starting with naming a new closer, of course.
And, hey, buying a resale car wisely (I've bought both new and used) means someone else has paid for the initial depreciation off the lot.
When the unique Dodge NITRO SUV was introduced in 2007, I fell in love with it. Three years later, when I divorced, I bought that car. A 2007 NITRO. It now has over 100K miles on it and looks like new.
So, honestly, your "used car salesman" comment isn't going to keep me from hoping for the best from our D-backs. You ought to try it. Even if it doesn't come with a warranty.

Call me crazy but I agree with BC. I think that the Diamondbacks finish with a record of 82 & 80.
For the record, I have never used the expression "half full" because it is the same amount as "half empty". I prefer 90% full as a goal. We're both looking at the same half empty cup, but you've got ice in yours
