Horton's Heroes pitch their first shut out of the year, Fitz and Roberts score + a ST or Def TD, Cards roll 27-0.

That is the rarest thing in sports: A Cardinals shutout. When is the last time that's happened?

In fact, it is so rare, that I remember watching a tedious preseason game last year into the 4th quarter because we had prevented scoring up to that point. I think it was against the Broncos, and I just wanted to see if we could do it. We didn't.

I know I'm probably being a negative nancy but I think the score is going to be close.

Dolphins are ranked #4 in the NFL running the ball. Granted, Bush is (probably/maybe) out which helps alot. Cards are ranked #17 against the run. I think Miami is going to just run all day and throw some play-action on top of it occasionally. Control time of possession and punt when they have to. No turnovers is paramount for them (and us).

Miami is also 3rd stopping the run, so I think we're going to have rough sledding once again, leaving it up to Kolb and our oline not to make mistakes. That being said they're 29th against the pass, so Kolb and Fitz and Roberts could have a huge day if they play mistake-free.

I think we'll win, but it's going to be close if Miami is able to control time of possession, and statistically they should be able to do that. And if there's ever a game when we don't need Beanie, IMO, it's against Miami since they would probably shut him down. Look for RW and Howling to have several catches in the flats, leak-outs, etc. Seems like a trap game to me, and I don't know that we match up as well as we'd like.

(Edit: My prediction 13-10 Cardinals)

Our "D" is designed to take away what they do best and pressure relentlessly. We'll take the run away, and let the rookie try to beat us in the air with guys showing up in his face from all directions.

We'll run the ball to set up the play action. Their pass "D" is poor and they can't pressure effectively.

"Trap games" happen to immature teams that are too full of themselves.

There is nothing I glean from this team that gives me that concern.

Has anyone noticed how much more we seem to be running play action this year? Whisenhunt offenses in the past did not feature play action, and it seems that they've tailored the offense to sucker teams in with the run and the beat them with play action.

Classic let-down/trap game, but we still pull through.

17-16 Cards

The Cards defense stops Miami's 2-point conversion attempt as time expires.

Because we're no3 in the power rankings, Miami decide it's not worth the airfares and concede the game.

Cards come out flat. Miami's rookie QB gets some help from the replacement refs. Cardinals OL has problems and running game suffers:

Miami 17

Cards 16

Cards 27 Miami 17

Our running game shows up and our DBs intercept two.

If you look at all these guesses it is sort of amazing how close so many are. The money people in Vegas had the Cards by 5 1/2 the last time I looked. This is the first game we have been favored. Shows you what the bettors think of us up until today. SF defense gets all the ink about being the best in the league but I am not so sure we do not have the best defense in the league. When you have guys like Dockett, Williams, Campbell, Peterson, Acho you got a group of tough talented mean a-- defenders. They are not 3 game wonders but are 11 game wonders. That is not just luck. Oh yes we also have Ray Horton for at least the rest of this year. He has brought an attitude and a defensive scheme to this group who I think believe they can stop anyone.

The real refs come back & decide that there's no way the Cardinals can be 4-0 because the Cardinals suck. There is a NFL record set in # of flags thrown against 1 team and the Cardinals lose 24-7.

27-13 Cards. We win at home period. Should be like the Eagles game. Our Defense will take control and the offense will do enough to win.
