#Cardinals DT Frostee Rucker to me on DL Red Bryant's release: "You are losing a lot of experience. He was one of the only people on our team who had Super Bowl experience. So we gained a lot by signing him last year and with him helping us on our road to trying to get to the championship game. All those years in the league was helpful for our younger guys to know how to train and be a pro. We have other leadership on the line, like myself and Calais (Campbell), but it always helps when you have another guy who has played eight-plus years."

Maybe they bring back Golden and Bryant after week one so salaries aren't guaranteed

Man---I was so wrong about Red Bryant. Kudos to everyone else who predicted this.

Usually someone gets injured enough to get a settlement or IR - so it was a tough call, but really, anyone you cut on that line will draw complaints - they are all good this year. And we knew it was coming (Red or Williams or Stinson); although I probably would have cut Stinson.

They kept Olsen Pierre which nobody expected. They could have cut him and kept all of those guys.

I bet they are trying to trade one of the DL. It's crazy to have 9 DL when they only play 3 (or often just 2) at a time.

Wow - yeah, I didn't expect Pierre and not Bryant, although I thought they may keep 9 DL.

Olsen Pierre instead of Britten Golden. Didn't see that coming. The trade for Cooper is impossible to predict, but there was a feeling there was a trade on the horizon.

I do not expect the current 53 to be what shows up Tuesday.

To Sum up. Only Four positions/players were Surprising as I see it.

Pierre Olson is the biggest surprise as we not only keep 9 DL but he also beat out Red Bryant. They must be trying to trade a DL or this doesn't make sense.

Taylor gets the 4th RB spot in a small surprise as both Williams and Penny showed more as runners.

Lamar Louis at 4th ILB and Wetzel at 9th OL were Surprises to me. Keeping 4 ILBs and 9 OLs was expected but just didn't Think these Two players would make the final 53. Both are candidates to be replaced by a player cut from Another team.

Only 3 TEs.
Only 5 WRs.

These are some curious cuts. With 9 OL kept are we seeing a possible shift in direction with offensive philosophy? They did run the ball 42 times in the last game. Is BA taking the ball out of Palmer's hands just a wee bit? With the horses they have in the backfield, running the ball is not necessarily a bad thing. Will we see more 2 TE sets and possible jumbo packages with a 6th lineman? BA never carried just 3 TEs and 5 WRs before. It has always been 4 and 6. The roster as it is set now brings up some very intriguing questions for us to bounce around. The 9 DL just confounds me. As someone else mentioned, when do you ever see the defense with more than 2 or 3 DL on the field. Why 9 on them on the roster? When can they start adding players to the PS? I wonder who they will bring back to fill the PS and who will be discarded?

Nine Offensive linemen was expected. Remember that Shipley and Boehm are exclusively Working at C and do not play other positions. That means more players to fill in at the other positions. I was Surprised by Wetzel making it but understand it. He showed enough not to be able to slide to the PS. I expect him or Toner to fill in as a 4th TE now we only carry three there.

The 9 DL is a mystery. I expected 8 With Stinson as the weakest link or Bryant as the Oldest link out. It's 9 and Pierre Olson in instead of Bryant. There must be a Trade in the works for this to make sense IMO.

The reason Pierre is still on the roster is one of the other d lineman may still get traded, if not he will be cut for some waiver pickup, they are not going into the season with 9 dline

Penny showed his worth last night. It will be hard to discard him unless they try to sneak him onto the PS which I suspect will fail after the performance he put on last night. I think Barkley played his way onto the roster last night. I believe BA was running an experiment with all the 2 TE sets and going heavy with the run game. I think he wanted to see how Barkley would manage the game and how well he would play using a run heavy offense. There is no doubt the team can run the ball. If you can give Barkley a efficient running game he is more than capable of moving this offense and putting points on the board. It doesn't matter if it was against scrubs as most would say because you still have to execute the offense and put the ball in places where your WRs can catch it and Barkley did just that. I honestly think BA ran an offense last night that would cater to Barkley's strengths and he wanted to see how well it would work if Palmer did go down. I think it worked out very well. Barkley can't run the Palmer offense however he proved he can run an offense that can score and chew up tremendous amounts of time off the clock keeping the defense fresh and wearing down the other team's defense. I hope BA is being honest with himself and is considering cutting ties with Stanton and elevating Barkley to #2. I don't think you can keep Stanton and demote him.

seems BA was allowing Barkley to create a resume for himself so he still has a team after he gets cut.

it may have simply been an age thing.... if the level of play is close it may be better to keep the younger player who may still have time to grow....so long as you can make up for the loss in leadership.

The more I think about it the more I like keeping wetzel, he at least looked decent, and actually that is hard to find with tackles.

Still think one of the dline men will be gone one way or another shortly

Is it possible to trade for a player just claimed in waivers?

I noticed San Diego claimed Pierre desir, wonder if Keim could have talked about using San diegos higher waiver priority in exchange for one of our dlineman.

The Chargers just released CB Steve Williams after they were awarded Desir.

Have to give BA and Steve Keim credit---only one player they waived was claimed (S Mathias Farley). The played it correctly. Would love to know what Steve Keim is doing behind the scenes right now---is he trying to trade for another CB?

Sort of OT: I'm still very dissapointed the team did not re-up Freeney.
