Ok. Time to make your prediction about who will start on day one.

Here is mine.

Nash
Richardson
Hill
Amare
Lopez

I think Lopez will get the nod over Frye early. It sounds to me like Kerr and company are determined to give Lopez every opportunity to develop. They know if he develops some, his type of game is a good match for Amare.

Nash
Barbosa
J Rich
Hill
Frye

That's my guess for opening day. I have little confidence that Amare will be available by then.

Ugh Stat at the 5. That was pretty ugly defensively IIRC. And then to have a rookie at 4. I think that'd b trouble.

Whats this "defense" you speak of? I am not familiar with that term....:D

This is based on the fact that this team is looking for quick, athletic scoring threats, not necessarily defenders. No one on this squad is a better than average defender. So we might as well put our best foot forward, which is our offense.

I say STAT at the 5 only because there aren't very many 5s that can stop him offensively. I think Clark's skill set works well with our offense.

I want nothing to do with Lopez because he provides little on offense and although he can block shots, he can pick up 3 fouls in 3 minutes easily. He is too wreckless

I think this squad will score about 111 ppg but allow 110 at the same time.

I'm far from an expert. You might be right. That might give us our best chance at winning. We'll have to wait and see.

Stat playing defense at the 5 would be better than the center we had last year. The only thing that we suffer at is rebounding but hopefully we make that a big point of emphasis

Actually I think Shaq played excellent defense at the 5 in comparison. IIRC we had one of the best paint defenses in the league. Our major weakness was the perimeter and the pick and roll. That will not change with Stat at the 5 and our paint defense will suffer on top of this. We'll wait and c how it goes tho

Agree Stat at the 5 would be beyond ugly. People have short memories. Been there....done that....it was horrible.

If amare's at the 5 more this year, expect Gentry to give him the green light on 3 pointers too. Since frye is able to is able to be a legit threat in the high post PnR, I wouldnt be surprised to see some secondary plays that space the floor so Amare can show off his range.

I'm excited to see Barbosa's playmaking improvements and slashing this coming season too.

Lopez better get in gear because I fear all our bigs will all have some serious foul trouble events.

Cant believe we dont have a legit starting center...

I don't like Frye at center. And atleast Amare's offense at center would make up for his poor defense there.

Our 13th will be either Von Wafer (assuming the rumors are true), or probably Griffin, or maybe that backup PG in the summer league

I have no interest in Von Wafer (sounds like a Catholic Vampire flick). I would be interested in Zabian Dowdell for end of the bench Dragic insurance.

BTW, for those that are drooling over Dalembert (I know they are on the RealGM board), I am totally against it. His style doesn't fit our play, he is over paid, and dumber than a box of rocks. Word is that he makes Steven Hunter look like a mensa candidate.

Why do you think that? Amare's offense didn't make up for his bad defense last time he played center. It was by far our worst season in the paint defensively in a very long time and was the difference maker IMO between us and a title.

The SUNS defensive rotations are going to have to be precise and surgical this season....like volleyball. Speaking of volleyball, hopefully Gentry is going to reintroduce the rebounding tip-drills in training camp as well.
