Josh needs to break the ice and get his 1st TD pass. Predict the Game/Quarter/Receiver. Bonus points for selecting LJ Shelton on a tackle-eligible. Winner gets bragging rights.

My pick: SF/2nd Q/Freddie Jones

I can't believe we're still talking about this in game 5. Josh needs to start making plays and then this team actually has a brighter future than any of us could have forseen at the beginning of the season. Hopefully this weekend will be a confidence booster!

1st play of the game to Fitz and the rout begins.

I went to a psychic and asked the same question. On the first drive of this game Emmitt is going to score a rushing t.d. our first drive. The next drive Fitz will catch a T.D. pass from McCown. It should be around a 15 yard play. Thats all she could tell me. Ms Cleo never lies.

Or IS McCown going to throw TD passes. If he doesn't soon, he'll be replaced. The excuses are getting pretty damn thin. With a running game like we had on Sunday, there was no reason he couldn't complete a TD pass.

I also think it's time for BJ to start stepping up. He apparently will be working mainly against Plummer this week, but he still needs to get it going. He's had 5 to 6 weeks to get the rust off from the layoff.

He has been playing pretty consrvativley. But considering how weak SF's pass defence appears to be, it should be this week that he ATLEAST gets one passing TD.

If he throws a pick and it's returned for a TD, does that count?

3rd quarter at SF 2 yd line, Josh has the ball batted in the air by the D-Line, he catches it and falls into the end zone.

It would be awesome if Josh throws a TD to LJ Shelton on a tackle eligible! That would be some fun!

I not sure about his first. But his third will be a 65 yard TD to BJ on the first play of the 2nd half. That will put the Cards up 31 to 3 and put the game on ice....

Last I knew, the point of the game was to WIN. Who cares how many TD passes Josh threw in a 34-10 win?

How many individual stats anyone gets, is secondary to that.

If we have "a running game like we had on Sunday", whether the QB throws a TD pass, again, is not of primary concern.

Besides, last time I checked, by definition, if you're running, you aren't passing.

If there was ever a perfect subtext for a play... On the road, at San Francisco, a year removed from a humilating game and a humiliating play...

Tackle eligible to LJ Shelton if we get to the goal line.
No brainer.

What?
Josh gets his first TD on the opening drive in SF!!

As a reciever, pitch to Hambrick, reverse to Poole, Poole hits a wide open Josh for seven.

I don't know that I'd blame Josh as much as the circumstances excepting his 3 turnovers in the redzone during the Atlanta game he completes a great percentage of his passes so I can't see how it'd be all his fault the WR aren't catching them in the endzone or more precisely aren't open in the endzone on the plays he isn't running for his life.

I predict a first quarter TD pass to Freddie Jones after a Frisco turnover.

Normally I'd agree with you on the above, Tango. A 34-10 win is a 34-10 win. Problem is, McCown hasn't thrown a TD pass in our FIRST FOUR GAMES. Through the first four games of the season, our RUNNING BACK has thrown more TDs than our QB has. I'm concerned, is all.

If he starts throwing TDs, and at an acceptable pace, and plays well, then I'll be great with him as our QB. But how many games is too many? When does he get the yank? Pretty soon, if he doesn't start performing, if you ask me.

I just don't think that's logical.

He should be pulled if the team is struggling because of him period. He could go the rest of the season without a td pass and what would it matter if we won all the games?

Logically he should complete a few td passes in four games but he didn't and we lost 3 of them. Did we lose the Atlanta game just because he didn't throw a td pass? No we lost because he turned the ball over by fumbling it. He got benched for that not for failing to throw td passes.

I haven't seen a ton of plays where he just botched a td throw when he had time to read the field. He has been accussed of not seeing wide open wr and that's fair but I haven't seen them in the end zone when he had any time to find them.

I will only defend Josh up until the time I feel he's the majority of the problem. I really don't think he is the majority of the problem except in the Atlanta game and he was rightly benched in that one IMHO.

Now see, THAT'S just not logical. So, if he becomes a fairly large problem, but our offense still has more problems, you'll still continue to defend him? As I said, your statement makes no sense.

I'm not talking about Josh making TD throws in the red zone, but yes, that's part of it. How about Josh actually throws a good jump ball for Fitz instead of one that should have been intercepted? You're going to tell me that wasn't his fault? How about throwing a deep ball for a TD. It is, after all, Denny Green's offense. Or how about throwing the ball before you decide to run around like a deer in the headlights? After all, we've had many reports of Josh currently being unwilling to throw unless the receiver is wide open, and you canNOT wait for a completely wide open receiver in the NFL.

Love simply dust away those 3 fumbles, though, as if they had nothing to do with his not throwing a TD pass. Like, you know, he may have thrown a TD if he DIDN'T fumble it away in the red zone.

Sorry if the post sounds harsh, bro. I just find your defense illogical, and it's quite late. Too tired to rehash and revise Lol

I think it's illogical to think that the WR we have aren't at least as guilty of failing to score a td through passing as our QB is.

Our WR still have no TD catches how bout that? Why is that not an issue? King was in a while did he throw one?

What the heck is the guy that caught that TD pass is he a WR?

Who is getting paid the most on the field right now? Hmm that would be Fitz and guess what he has no TD catches and let's look at his Yac yards are they indicative of a WR who is going to at least help your QB by breaking one? HMMMM no.

Dude you can get as harsh as you want but bottom line WR can turn routine catches into td's it happens just not on our team the last 4 games.

Yeah it's cute to say Emmitt has more td passes than Josh but it dosen't explain it completely.

Now if Boldin were healthy and playing and Josh had no td's it would be a lot more damning but he isn't and none of our current WR could be called TD machines at the NFL level at least as of yet.
