1. Lakers
2. Spurs
3. Nuggets
4. Mavs
5. Hornets
6. Jazz
6. Portland
7. Thunder/Suns
8. Suns/Thunder

Suns no chance out of 1st round.

So let me get this straight, with Chandler the Hornets were a borderline playoff team, and with Okafor they are a 5 seed?? Come on now.

Nice try SteelDog, but there can't be two 6 seeds in the West. ;)

Crap. That's what I get for doing this so late. Let me revise. I was working really late last night. I continued to work on a work project until 2 AM.

1. Lakers
2. Spurs
3. Nuggets
4. Mavs
5. Hornets
6. Jazz
7. Portland
8. Thunder/Suns

Chap, I believe the Hornets were much better then their record indicated. I think Chandler was hurt most of the season and still might be. Having a healthy body in the middle will help IMO. When you look at the Hornets from 2 seasons ago, I think you can see what can happen when that team is healthy.

I will say though that positions 3-8 a very interchangeable. There is not much seperation between those teams. It's the Lakers/Spurs and everybody else is not even close IMO.

Steel, Don't be so ambivalent pick one or the other :)

Honestly, I think that anything above the 2nd seed is interchangable. It just depends on health mostly. the Suns could wine up in 5th place or 9th along with the Hornets, Rockets, Jazz, Mavs, Trailblazers, Nuggets, Thunder, & Clippers. I think some of those teams like the Nuggets/mavs/trailblazers are at least top 6 contenders, and the rest are all top 8 contenders, so it really just depends on who stays healthy.

Maybe it is a good model, however, the Suns will not even carry a 15 man roster.

Although if you think about it the team saves money in the long run by being able to sign players to minimum contracts that can actually contribute to the team. The cost of the D-League team is also cheap. The whole roster costs less than a vet minimum contract (excluding assigned players). This also goes to the Suns giving up draft choices to save money short term. It costs money long term by not having those rookie scale contracts on the books. Of course, you have to be able to identify useable talent to make that work.

Not really trying to be indecisive or anything. I honestly think it's a toss up between the Suns and Thunder for the 8th seed. I guess if you held a gun to my head I would pick the Suns out of homerism for the 8th spot.
