2021 - Prove It
FA is going to start next month, and as we all know, the Cardinals will be on a budget. Here are some budget names at WR that the Cards could consider.
Andre Holmes - Oakland
-Big, tall, and fast vertical receiver. Seems like a nice match to what the Cardinals like to do but with more size. Obviously, you have to wonder why he couldn't maximize these skills with Oakland and David Carr. From what I can tell, the deep routes went to Amari Cooper, and Holmes is not the most versatile route runner. But, if we are looking for a cheap vertical option with size, Holmes fits that bill for a small cost.
Robert Woods - Buffalo
-Good player, but not really as dynamic as Buffalo hoped out of college. Woods is a better intermediate option than Kendall Wright IMO, and shouldn't cost a bunch. I don't know that he brings the size that the Cardinals will want to replace Floyd, but he does have more to offer than what he was used for in Buffalo.
Cordarrelle Patterson - Minnesota
-Game breaker who the Cardinals could probably use as much on special teams as they could as a WR. Never seemed to get it in Minnesota and it has been reported that he struggled to pick up the offense. Came on at the end of the year which is a good sign but could drive up the price. Might be the lowest cost game breaker on the market but you have to be creative in how you use him.
Marquise Goodwin - Buffalo
-Another option from the land that offense forgot. The nice thing is that Goodwin does everything we ask our smaller WRs to do very well. The bad is that he is very similar to what we already have. My guess is that if we go after Goodwin, we are thinking John Brown is not going to return to rookie form.
Denard Robinson - Jags
-Robinson is what the Cardinals wanted Ellington to be but maybe he isn't or didn't want to be. Long story short, if the Cards sign Robinson, they are signing a guy to fill Ellington's role but without the expectation of more.
There are more options, but these are the guys who I see fit best, without costing 6mil plus like Kenny Stills.
