1. Kolb looked good going to Fitz, but needs to develop a rapport elsewhere. Still, solid play for a guy with a few practices in a new offense. He dramatically improves our QB situation.

2. Oline needs some work. Serious work. Need to gel. If Thrice is penciled in as the starter somewhere, just do it now and let the projected starters work together and develop a rhythm. They were poor in pass pro and bad at the goalline.

3. Beanie - ran strong and fast. Did not have the punch at the goalline (though he also didn't have a hole, but he should still convert in four tries).

4. LSH - I love the kid, so much heart and a great change of pace back.

5. Ryan Williams...STUD. He will be the goalline back if Beanie fails in that opportunity one more time. He and Beanie compliment each other well though, this is a VERY strong and diverse RB trio.

6. DWash is looking comfortable in the defense. Good.

7. AJ muffing Jefferson!!! Got beat badly once, then another 4 or five times had his hands all over the ball. Really strong play from him.

8. Rashad muffing Johnson. WTF was he doing? Come back Adrian, soon, because Rashad is not very good. Not good at all.

9. Patrick Peterson...exciting 25 yard kick return, sounds weird but it was exciting. Felt he would pop it at any second. They rarely even LOOKED his way, and when he did get thrown at it was on a motion guy who slanted the opposite of the motion in front of him, for ten yards. But the one play that stood out to me was a run play, where the guy was kind of bottled up but trying to break it and instead of running in to hit the pile, he sprinted off backward to the middle of the field. SMART play, because how many times have we seen a RB pop out of a crowd and go for 45 yards. PP was cutting that off and made the smart defensive play.

10. Skelton - skittish first series when the OL just swallowed their tongues and then calmed down to play very well. Pretty pass on the TD to Williams.

11. Sherman - dynamo! Dunno if you noticed, but he was all over special teams. He's a good draft pick, really loving that.

12. TE trio of Heap, Housler and King - AWESOME!!! All around. King was knocking some heads and Housler's interior spin at the GL was perfect. We have good TEs???

13. DeMarco sampson has SOFT hands. He plays taller than he is..I would have sworn he was 6'4" or 6'5". 6'2" though? He sticks.

15. Chansi. Sucky. He isn't going to beat out the stable of big young WRs on this team. He didn't even close on a ball from Bartel.

16. Bartel is the 3, see ya Hall. Enjoy the CFL.

17. Did Rhodes play? Didn't even hear his number called. THAT is a good thing...you don't want your name being called at FS because that means you got beat.

18. Quiet from DDOCK and CC. I expected more there.

19. I also expected more from Richard Marshall, but am not yet complaining. I thought he'd be locked in for a starting CB spot. Not yet, and AJ has something to say about it too.

20. Both OC and DC are working from the upstairs booth? Interesting.

I thought Ryan Williams looked like a beast on limited carries. Made something out of nothing on several runs. Much better vision and wiggle than Beenie (although Beenie did have that great stiff arm).

If johnson is our 2nd best SS, we have major problems. He looked lost, took bad tackling angles, and overall a horrible performance. We need Wilson back, or we need to find a replacement because johnson is a huge liability.

Didn't Hall's TD pass win the game? IMO, he's still in a fight with Bartell for the #3 QB.

Would agree with that.

no. not a chance. williams' catch and run won the game. against guys who play in the 4th quarter of the first preseason game.

Hall is gonzo. It will be good for his health, and his memory.

1) Agree Kolb was solid when he wasn't running for his life. I still believe this team will pass, pass & pass some more because Kolb luvs & feels the most comfortable in the shotgun...its been that way thru HS & college.

2) why this team didnt add Gaither or someone else to replace Levi is beyond me.

4) Larod will be a big factor in this O this year IMO

6) I disagree. Dwash still gets engulfed in blockers & cant get off them. I fear he will never be anything beyond average

7) I thought AJ had a solid game & made some plays

8) Hey Rashad may suck but to expect a guy made to play FS to be a SS is asking a bit much. Ware wasn't worth the pickup either. I believe RJ has always played FS until AW injury

9) please put PP21 in on punts & let him work his magic. IMO still is a work in progress when in zone

12) pray Heap can stay healthy cause he can still be a weapon

20) I still believe come week 1 Horton is on the field because his mentor LeBeau always was & I think he'll be a hands-on coach

Cards need to get atari bigby's agent on the phone...heck even Roy williams will do.

Man he looked terrible. He looks lost. Slow. Confused. Out of position. Indecisive. If A-Dub can't go, we're in some serious trouble here... :(

I just assumed he would be on the sideline. I was kind of surprised he was upstairs.

I'm not saying he should be the 3rd QB (personally, I think he had his chance last year and failed), but I think he did enough to still be given a chance to compete for the position during the preseason.

Oh sure, but I simply think it's a foregone conclusion. He might get a bit more burn next game due to doing well tonight, but he just can't do it against 1s. He is awesome against 4th stringers. And I think Whis knows it.

I agree with the majority of the points and it shows with this weird offseason (or lack thereof) favors players and teams that know the system. The new people seemed to be befuddled at times but that is understandable.

The weird thing about the Oline play was that it seemed to improve the longer they played with the QB. For example, first series Kolb is running for his life but second series - minus the goalline offense - the blocking was fine. Same with Skelton and the second string first series - abysmal, second series - seemed just fine and adjusted. Maybe its an issue with getting used to cadances.

I still prefer to get the five best Olinemen out there.

I HOPE he knows it. He seemed hell bent on not starting Skelton last year. Hope he learned his lesson.

Wouldn't hurt to have another Williams on the roster :) Is he an available FA? Hes head and shoulders above Johnson, its not even close.

I was very impressed by AJ Jefferson. He played the run well and was excellent in coverage, minus his one mistake. By the end of the year, he could be a solid #2 CB.

Ryan Williams looks the part for this offense. Whis said he wants his backs to make people miss. Williams looks like he's at least above average in that department.

Joey Porter got wiped out of a play by Kevin Boss. I really wish we moved on from him in the offseason.

It might be time to give Hyphen a contract extension. He's a versatile player who will only get more expensive to lock up the longer we wait.

Kolb didn't look good IMO. That deep pass to Fitz was a Matt Leinart floater which should've been picked off but it was against the Raiders 2nd string CB.

I agree with your assessment of SS though. Why haven't we signed Dashon Goldson yet??? :(

Excited to see how our young WRs, LBs and CBs do this year.

Last year DA would have put the ball 5 yards out of reach of both of them.

Baby steps, bro.

He put it up and let Fitz go get it, like Warner did countless times.

Golston is a FS, and re-signed with SF.

...it is terrible when the guy missing the tackles in the video highlights is the same guy over and over - I saw 3 missed tackles by our SAFETY; he should be cut, not #2 or #3 backup

2) why this team didnt add Gaither or someone else to replace Levi is beyond me.

Jared would have been a nice pick-up, but all-in-all I think Levi did pretty well last night. I'm not saying that he's turned the corner, and is becoming the next Walter Jones...but he did ok.

But the issue with our O-Line that I saw last night (with the first team) was Hadnot and Keith...those two were constantly missing blocks, or getting bent over backwards.

Deuce has got to get into game shape (340-350 lbs), and Keith has got to get his game-legs back under him for this line to be at least adequate.
