I hate to say this about my squad (GOD BLESS YOU JERRY!) but this movie is my call as the biggest bomb of the summer. A HUGE, big money spectacle, based off a video game that's not the biggest thing in the world starring Jake Gyllenhal? This thing opens at 40 million at most and flames out hard afterward.

Just based on casting? LOL

Hmm, I seem to remember people getting all up in arms about Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker. That turned out ok, didn't it?

Hmm, you send me a free ticket, and I'll go see it, m'kay. Excuse me for not being excited like you want me to be.

Like I want you to? What are you talking about?

I think the casting is strange, but I will reserve judgment. Jake is a good actor, but I'm not sure he's action hero material. Of course, we said similar things about Heath Ledger, like I said. No reason to just write off the movie. Now, if it was Bubble Boy 2 or Gamer: Dexter's Revenge, then I'd probably write it off.

I remember when Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat in Interview with a Vampire and I thought it was the worst casting ever.

Now I consider it one of his best acting jobs. He really embraced that role.

I really debated on whether or not to see this movie. I've never really liked movies based off video games. I also know nothing about the game.

With that said I went to see it anyway. I must say that I was pleasently surprised! I thought that Jake did a fine job as the Prince of Persia. Gemma looks hot. I would describe this movie as a classic Summer Blockbuster. It won't win best picture but it was never meant to. I was throughly entertained throughout the entire movie.

Grab your popcorn and go enjoy the ride. By far the best Video game adaption I've seen. Again it's just a really fun movie and worth the admission price IMO.

I'm glad to say you will be wrong. It's not the greatest movie this year but it will still do well. Sex and the City 2 is the one that is going to Bomb.

Sex just had a huge Thursday opening night and is looking like it'll make 75 million in it's first weekend. It ain't gonna bomb... as much as it looks like it should.

Of course it won't, just as the Twilight movies won't. The fan bases are too big and will go to the movies no matter how much they suck.

I wish you were right about Sex 2 and I don't like to see Jerry have a bad weekend (got nothing but love for everyone at that office), but looks like I was right:

Sex opens to 67 million opening weekend and Persia will take in around 42 (which is horrendous considering how much money it made) and it's gonna drop like a rock next week.

I liked it a lot. Didn't do great domestically but dominating internationally.

Not surprising to me. Still too jingoistic when it comes to anything do with Arabs.

I enjoyed it too. It was entertaining. Certainly not great. But not terrible either.

Yeah I didn't consider that all of the S&TC fans would go watch it no matter how horrible it looked.

As for Persia I'd be shocked if it drops off like a rock. With all of the kids starting summer vacation this week I'd think that it has some staying power.

Pretty good popcorn flick. Wasn't a great piece of theatre but for what it was, it was good. Plus anytime you can see Gemma, it is a good thing.

I saw it on saturday, definitely not the worst movie i have ever seen.

Are there discussions for sequels or a franchise?

it'll drop anywhere from 55-60 percent next weekend. It'll be lucky to make 115 million domestic which is a flop for a 200 million dollar movie.

luckily, it looks SATC 2 didn't have incredible numbers and is already pretty far off the pace of the original meaning there won't be any sequels coming after it.

The budget on IMDB is 150 million. Still will probably not even come close to that domestically, but it will definitely make that much in international markets.

the times (LA/NY), Reporter and Variety and little birdies in the know all had it at 200.

and studios only get a small slice of the pie for international. They threw so much money into this sucker thinking it would be a franchise and it was pretty much DOA.

60% drop in weekend two for an estimated 14 million and cume of 61. With A-Team coming up next week to take the action lead and Karate Kid to steal the kiddies, this sucker's gonna be lucky to make 90 million... Jerry better hope The Sorcerer's Aprentice does a HELL OF A LOT better than this stink-bomb.

My wife and I were thinking about seeing this tonight. We made a mistake in watching the trailer. We both decided to wait till it comes to HBO or Showtime.
