As bad as it is... it's still better than the NHL All-Star game.

The only All Star game that is competitive is the MLB All Star Game because they actually have something to play for(home field in the World Series). The others are jokes. I remember in the 80's where the NBA all star game would have scores like 155-140. The NHL All Star game would be better if they would make it completely a skills competition. The Pro Bowl would be better served to be a tag and that's all.

All-Star type games suck period. Nothing on the line, nothing to really play for and the fans obviously don't care.

That is why baseball's All-Star game is the best, IMO. It is mid-season, so fans are still engaged. And it is real hard for players not to try. Pitchers still gotta throws strikes and batters still have to hit. The WS Home Field thing is a little weak, but kudos to them for at least trying to make the game count.

As for football, just make it a 7-on-7 game and make the OL/DL participants do strongman competitions on the sideline or something. That's where its heading at least.

In the NHL, back in the 60's, the last Stanley cup winner would play against a all-star team at mid-season. This was a real game that everyone looked forward to.

havent watched one ever, u should know better

I haven't watched probably 20+ years. But, obviously, it is still a moneymaker for the NFL and the networks. As long as it is, it's not going away. At least more people are seeming to complain every year.

That might be interesting. The champs versus the All-Stars.

Being English I had to stay up way past my bedtime to watch the pro bowl. I expected a spectacle and knew PP, LF and AW were playing.

I was excited about how Larry would link up with top QB's like Rodgers and Brees, so i was pretty pissed off by the time the score was 14 each. I've had more exciting craps than this! Nevertheless I turned the tele off. What a waste of time.

I thought it was a pretty entertaining "skills" competition.

Other than that, watching A-Dub lope along at half speed on every defensive play and Fitz & PP21 do the same on plays in which they weren't involved was (a) depressing and (b) could have gotten them hurt.

But I have to admit pulling for an NFC rally and gritted my teeth as Cam N handed the NFC an easy win.

I had to turn this game off because it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I mean, even the fans were booing at one point. If this is how they're going to play this game then don't play it at all. I mean, if I want to see an Arena type game, I'll go to an Arena game. This wan't enjoyable at all. Players playing at half speed or slower. Anyone who liked this game is not a football fan.

I agree there was little effort on the players part. I also expected that. A player would be foolish to play all out and possible injure himself or put his carreer in jepordy in a game that is meaningless. The fans should also realize what is going to happen. It is just a game to show the best NFL players to the public more or less like touch football. This game is what it is and not likely to change unless there is some really big incentive to win it. People will say they owe it to the fans who paid for their tickets. These guys play for money and championships. Not for the fans.

why the hell was he even playing? I would have expected him to get his surgery and rest up after almost having to miss the whole season

Excellent point Jeff. I was thinking about how we always hear that playing at half speed in the NFL will get you hurt. You would think at least they'd play at the level of an in season scrimmage.

But as long as they're going to play 7 on 7 where the Defensive linemen take 2 steps forward and stand up and the oline takes 2 steps backward and stand up why not just play straight up 7 on 7?

$400 on the over sure was nice.

OK that explains it. I forgot the NFL was all about gambling and fantasy leagues. Can't blame them. It brings in Billions.

It's become like the NBA All-Star game---no defense---all show.

But---it got 12.5M viewers, so it is not going to disappear. (MLB All Star game got 11M last year, for comparison sake).

What the NFL got at least is the timing right---it vaguely fills the void during the two week Super Bowl wait.

Exactly. So leave the linemen out they don't do anything anyway. 7 on 7.

Starting O for the NFC"

QB Rodgers
C Tony Gonzales
RB Darren Sproles
WR Larry Fitzgerald
Wr Steve Smith
WR Jennings
WR Roddy White

vs

Rusher-Von (Three Mississippi)Miller
DB D Revis
DB C Bailey
DB Ryan Clark
DB Ed Reed
DB LaDarius Webb
DB Eric Weddle

Now that would be fun to watch.

Do you remember when the NFL would play a team of college all stars?

Trivia question that few people would ever guess. At what game was the largest crowd ever to attend a Cardinals football game? The College All-Star game after the 1947 Championship season. 101,220. Cards won 28-0.

Though I'd know about the attendance figure for years, I'd never seen that article before tonight. Love the internet.

The Cardinals vs 49ers game at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, the NFL’s first regular-season game outside of the U.S., set an all-time attendance record of 103,467.

I was at that game!!

Did you see 40year? He took his great grandchildren. We all need to give 40 a little slack. After all he bought the very first ticket ever sold by the Morgan Athletic Club.

Bill Sr. was 16.

Bobby Layne from UT a good friend of my Uncle played in that game. Layne still holds the Lions franchise record for most career passing yards. He last played for the Lions in 1958!

But that's in pesos. So it was really only 10,346.

We've always thought it was good when we were minus 40. :D

Actually no Derminators tailgate was complete until 40year and his wife came by. Good times. Maybe the economy will turn and we can get back together for more Championship games.
