Put mics and cameras on everyone and everything and broadcast it online or the NFL Network with an "R" rating or whatever the tv equivalents are for language and violence. I would love to see that.

Start with the refs, mic them up on a live feed and kill their feed only when the Head Chef is making the official rulling. That way the N-bomb is well recorded... lol, it's the only way to call that penalty. They can handle that. Mics on the first down marker and on the line of scrim (both sides of the chains on both sides of the field), That's where a lot of action happens. Goal line, the 20, mid field, goal posts, and a few players on both sides of the ball as well. If they still want to have broad casters bringing up stats and historical facts they can rock a ticker some where.

This is the only way couch watching can improve, I don't need hi def to figure out who has the ball. It would be like your at the game, and the sound would carry like you are at training camp.

Big money. Fans would watch the R rated version all day, and pay for it.

Hmmm.

"I think it's going to be really tough to legislate this rule, to find a way to penalize everyone who uses this word," Ryan Clark, a Pittsburgh Steelers safety who's spent 12 years in the league, told ESPN's Bob Ley during an "Outside The Lines" special report. "And it's not going to be white players using it toward black players. Most of the time you hear it, it's black players using the word."

22 players all miked at the same time? Wouldn't you just get a garbled mess?

is that the "N" word with an R or the "N" word with an A or both? will a black player be penalized for saying cracker? This is BS! I don't like it at all!

Should be both.

Should be the rule not matter skin color.

Or don't have the rule at all.

I feel the same way about the word in society so I feel the same in this case.

If it is a bad word, then don't say it. If it is said all the time, then the word cannot be that bad now can it.

I can't believe anyone would seriously consider this. Have we become so PC that now the "Word Police" are going to scrub the NFL trying to make sure no one's feelings are being hurt? Why not just dress these guys in frilly dresses and go to flag football? This country is being run by wusses. Disgusting.

Has been for a while now.

Too bad people realize these things when it is too late.

It also caters to the stupid, irresponsible, and disrespectful.

Mr. Referee, I said "figures", not that other word!

Sorry, penalties are not reviewable. Expect a fine from the League.

We'd get to choose which audio stream to listen to. You could pick the Carson Palmer Channel or the Daryl Washington Channel. And you could change it for each replay, too.

The garbled mess would be the Sam Rosen Channel.

The ability to change the mic feeds during a replay would be excellent. :raccoon:

How would you do that? It would be awesome. So would being able to choose different camera angles.

I do know though that the coaches film on nfl game rewind, which we already have available, is great.

It would probably be pretty easy to do for an online broadcast, but I'm sure people could figure out how to do it for tv (without hitting the SAP button 22 times). Maybe if you subscribed to the Red Zone package, you'd get a special remote control that would put you in charge.

How much fun would it be to be able to pick your own camera angles, your own audio feeds, etc?

It's probably just the tv contracts that are preventing stuff like this. Maybe the NHL should try it first and see how it goes. I'd sign up.

Stupid idea. The refs have enough to worry about already.

I can see it already... "But Ref I was calling him a Grave Digger not a Slave N..."

Curious as to what the hand signal will be when calling the infraction.

Without every player having a mic it just won't work imho.

Happened a couple of times over here in the prem league and just turned into a really ugly drawn out 'he said' argument with no real evidence.

I like the sentiment of it, but practically speaking...

I dunno, but they'll need an African American on every crew to make the signal, because if a white ref does it, he'll be considered a racist.

After the Richie Cognito fiasco, i knew this was coming by the nfl & rightfully so.

I was born in the early 60's & know its a bad & hateful word to use, so I don't. The sad thing is that it's basically ok for an African American to say it in society, but a no no for any other ethnicity to use it in any form...talk about having your cake & eating it too. :bang: Can't we all just cut it out of any form of communication & get along?

I really don't mind "them having their cake and eating it too." Doesn't bother me even a little bit. So they took a word used for hate and killing and took it and owned it and used it for their own purposes. I don't see a problem.

When we first broke away from England they used to call us a terrible slander: Americans. Considered dirty and poor and uneducated; people who couldn't hack it over there--so bad they had to sail in some POS rat-infested boat just to leave. We call ourselves that with pride now. There's a long long long history of the repressed taking ownership of the derogatory names they were called.

I thought they called us Americans because we lived in America. Most tried to get here, it was a land of opportunity. It didn't really suck until everybody came. The word American is far more derogatory now than it was then.

Didn't really suck till everybody came? Just who is everyone? The Irish? The Italians? Everyone but the British right?

It doesn't suck in my opinion I wouldn't rather live anywhere else. The good still outweighs the bad by far.

Question: Is it the N word specifically or any type of word deemed harsh or abusive? What if a black player called a white player a cracker? What happens if one player calls another a ******? You just can't simply cherry pick offensive words and throw a flag on this one and not that one. As horrible as the N word is, playing the PC police is not the way to go because there is no way to define what word aside from that is hurtful. If you really mean to stop the language, create a penalty for trash talking in general. That's a wide enough umbrella. This way the game takes 6 hours and has 347 penalty yards per team.

To you maybe but I'm damned proud to be an American and IMO the only reason why some might hate us is jealousy. They are jealous that we took the best the world had to offer and made it our own. They hate that in this country you can be born into poverty and end up a billionaire. That someone who considers themselves poor in this country would be considered upper class in some other countries. This country might not be perfect but it is the greatest country in the world hands down. Where else can you speak out against your government without fear of reprisal? How many other countries change leaders every 2 to 4 years without 1 drop of blood being shed? Nope, you might think the word American is derogatory but I go by this motto: Italian by birth, American by the grace of God.
