wonder if you have to turn your TV to channel 3 or 4 in UHF for that baby to look better...?

You can also look at the Dell outlet, they have a changing selection of refurbished computers that still have a full warranty.
True, I bough a refurb Dell about 4 months ago....less than $500 and it's GREAT!

Let's put it this way: PC's crash all the time and Mac's don't.

heheh, not the one I built. :) I put together a killer AMD 64 system last month using Newegg.com. I love that site.

Ooh, this is intriguing for me because I'm looking to put together a system with the AMD 64, the 3200+. What are the added benefits you've found to having the 64 bit processor?

None really right now other than it's fast as living hell and the system never hangs. Only time the system has hung was when there was a software glitch.. Ihave one game that's fun, but it's very buggy.

BTW, the 3000+ is $223 at newegg.com, the 3200+ is over $50 more. Pound for pound the better buy is the 3000+, IMO. I bought the AMD 64 3000+ and am running it with a ATI Radeon 9800 video card, and it's absolutely fantastic for all the gaming and recording I do.

As for the benefits of the 64 bit system, there are none right now. 64-bit applications won't really be coming out for a year or so. You can download a beta of 64 bit Windows on the net right now, but the real OS won't be coming out for awhile, or so I've heard.

Thanks for your thoughts! I'll be getting the chip and a motherboard for $279, but then there is a $100 rebate to make it $179. I think I'm gonna do it that way and build around it. Awesome!

If you know someone that can put it together for you, building your own system is the way to go. I've got a racehorse of a system. Unfortunately, highspeed internet hasn't made it to where I live yet so I'm at the mercy of a 56k modem.

Why don't you get satellite high speed internet?? It is actually cheaper than some cable based internet connections. My buddy in New Mexico pays 29.99 and I think he had to buy the modem, but they gave him the equipment if he signed up for one year. I will try and find out the name of the company

Just a followup on my own post:

New computer is up and running and wow, this thing rocks! My old PC would get around 15-25 FPS in most games, and I was playing BF 1942 online yesterday and this one was getting 100 FPS!
