WEST LAFAYETTE — With Will Berg's elite size, Purdue basketball found a miniature role for the 7-foot-2 redshirt sophomore center late in the season.

Berg, who played in all five of the Boilermakers' postseason games and was a starter early in the season, has entered the transfer portal.

The news was first reported by Jeff Goodman, sourcing Berg's agency WEAVE.

After redshirting during the 2022-23 season, Berg played in 36 career games the past two seasons, averaging 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds. The native of Stockholm, Sweden is the second Boilermaker to enter the transfer portal since Purdue's 62-60 loss to Houston in the Sweet 16, joining Brian Waddell.

Berg became a reliable reserve to alleviate starting center Trey Kaufman-Renn after picking up early fouls late in the season. Berg shot 84.2% this season in 22 games with his best stat line coming in a win over Northern Kentucky where Berg scored 7 points and 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. He started the three games (Yale, Alabama and Marquette) that followed.
