What needs to change on defense? We can't keep giving up 7yds per rush average every week. Some of the holes (including cut back lanes) are atrocious. We also can't keep giving NFL QB's 5 seconds to throw the ball. I think we should go ahead and start Dansby on the weak side for one.

However, hope is not lost on this side of the ball. We at least are making turnovers (which I can't recollect us ever being on the positive end). We also aren't giving up the big 7 every scoring opportunity by the opponent either.

2 things, Davis gets blown up too often, and Dockett is out of position. Dockett at least TRIES to make plays, but he's too aggressive and taking himself out of plays. Then you have McKinnon getting older, and Woods, Dansby and company are taking the wrong lanes.

When we get healthy and have Ray, Dansby(with experience) and Hayes out there I think our run D will get better. Dockett needs to slow down a bit, he's got the talent he's just not yet understanding the system.

I wonder how long DG will go with Russell Davis at DT before he decides to try Nix? As for the O-line why hasn`r Leonard Davis back at RG where he has had his best success? Reggie Wells was drafted as a LT and play LT at college so he is out of position.Shelton when healthy needs to be back at LT.Clement has been Clement.

I agree and I forgot all about Ray! Hope he plays next week. Also I purposely watched (eyed) the defensive line on 2 plays without watching the actual play develop and you are exactly right about Davis. On one of those plays he was instantly 3 yards off the initial line of scrimmage. On the other one, Zellner was pushed back (way back) as they ran to that side. Until we get experience up front (and more talent), we will struggle against the run and with the rush.

Do yourself a favor, don't watch Zellner on run plays. I told you all when DG said he was going to be playing on run downs, I did a double take. He was drafted as a tweener pass rusher, Dallas first and then Oakland toyed with making him a hybrid LB/DE. Anybody who thinks he should be starting on rundowns scares me. If that's what Pendergast thinks, having coached him in Dallas, I'm concerned.

But right now I think the middle of the DL is the problem on run downs, Dockett will get better, Davis won't.

There was some blurb in the paper (EV Tribune, I think) about KVB getting more playing time...
