I'm all for it...seriously. Boyd is crap. The other kid tonight actually looked decent..PS decent. I hope we go into the season with Matt and Kurt at QB1 and QB2, and have Anquan as the emergency guy. Put the new guy on the PS.

Come on...IF we are in a situation with Matt and Kurt down, would you rather have run first Boyd in the game or Q throwing 60 yards in the air as the 3rd QB? If we come to that, we are screwed anyway and Q could make things happen.

2 QB on the roster lets us keep a bubble guy like Trannon or Holloway. I'd rather have either than Boyd.

Who is with me??

there are whispers that if Anderson doesnt make starter or primary backup, Crennel might release him.....a 3rd QB with starting experience? Brilliant

Billick also may not keep Smith, and may only go with 2 QBs.....hell, Leak will probably be axed in Chicago

there will be 3rd stringers up the wazoo in the next few days, and a bunch of them will be better than either Boyd or Campbell

First of all, Boyd has looked better than many of our starting qb's of the recent past.
Second, if it gets down to our 3rd string qb, we , as every other team in the league, would be in trouble anyway.
And third, q would be severely handicapped ......he wouldn't have himself to throw to!

I wouldnt want Q as 3rd QB.. I think Q could better help catching a crapping QB's balls rather than taking out our best offensive weapon than having him throw..

Q wouldn't have to throw. He would just run on every first down and run it into the end zone for a TD each time. Ocassionally he would toss one to Fitz or BJ to allow them their time in the sun. Then he would go out and throw the block that would spring them to run it in for a TD.

All hail the Q.

Boyd isn't crap - he's just not "ready." And let's not forget that he didn't have Fitz or Q to throw to.

That said - there was some cross-talk by Wolf and Pasch about trying to get him thru waivers and onto the PS where he could be brought up if needed. (Presumably, if both ML and KW went down in the same game, Q would be temporary #3 backup).

Meh, I've never been a fan of running QBs. You have a point on not playing with Q and Fitz...but he also hasn't gone against a starting defense either.

How many years and how many camps does Boyd get before he's 'ready'? A rookie he is not.

Go with two QB's active, send Boyd to the practice squad.

Except, where's that leave Campbell <sp?> though. Campbell didn't look bad for a guy that has been in camp less than a couple of weeks.

IMO we would be screwed with any of those guys at the helm. Why bother wasting a roster spot someone who can doesn't help our chances of winning. I am with Donald here 100%.

well

Q would probably be not that good of a QB (forgive my lack of faith Oh Great Quan) but we would win some games because he is a good football player instead if that makes any sense...see- Vince "I'll Run" Young and the now late Michael "I'll Run even more" Vick.

Q was a HS QB, and played QB in the Sugar Bowl, and performed well. He's got the skills to be adequate. He won't be a star there, but he'll plug and play for a couple of quarters which is all that would be needed...which I hope never is needed.

Thats the thing about an emergency QB, he would just come in if both Matt and Kurt went down in the same game. If they were both going to be out for extended time they would find someone else to play QB. But I agree with Donald, he would do great in an emergency. And it would also allow us to keep an extra LB or DB that might become a servicable player with more coaching.

There will QBs out the wazoo as teams get down to 53. TB is rumored to be cutting Chris Simms and we already know about Leftwich. Smart move going with 2 QBs. Boyd was so bad that almost anybody off the street could do what he did, except of course for his excellent running ability.
