Seriously......

if you think about it----if we even think of signing Q to a deal close to Fitz's then there is no way for AW or Dock to be extended (which in my opnion is my more important)

Boldin is a fan favorite (mine too) but ya gotta be realistic........We have a top 5 wr in Fitz.....Breaten and Doucet along with Patrick and Pope can do just fine on the passing end.

So I ask you this.....If boldin gets traded for lets say a 1st rounder and a 4th rounder PLUS we resign Dansby and move forward on extending AW....would you be for it?

I sure would.

dockett doesn't need to be extended he needs to calm down, but i think you meant dansby and aw by your last sentence, so yes. 2 defensive stars is more important to me.

The easy way to extend DD and AW next year is to cut Edge. Then we would still have plenty of money to redo Boldin's contract.

Finally a new perspective and one that I agree with 100%. Even if the options were just AW or Q, I'd take AW.

I would. If Hightower can show us he can be an everydown back, I'm for cutting Edge to help resign Q/DD/AW.

He's gotta show something quick. I wouldn't be opposed to dropping edge, but even if we had the truck starting, we would need to bring in a veteran backup. Then I would sgin Q Dansby and AW. Dockett should not even be on the radar in terms of needing a new deal right now.

I think Dansby is a goner. I don't think they will resign him or franchise him again.

If we make the playoffs it will be our defense that takes us there, not our offense. I would rather have stars/above average at all levels of the team (D-Line, LBs, Secondary, O-Line, WR/TE, QB/RB) than overload one position with talent. I worry about the longevity of Q's career because of his style of play.

I think the Cardinals will make him one of the highest paid LBs before the FA period opens next year. Assuming Dansby remains healthy throughout the entire season.

I am for trading Boldin ASAP for he best deal we can get. He has jumped over the line of no return. Great player but a rotten apple which will spoil all the other apples if he stays. Does anyone think he will play at his best if he stays? I don't. He will do his best to avoid injury. When you bad mouth your team and your coach and proclaim you want out of this place how can you possible keep him. If I bad mouthed my company and my boss in public and on the media I would be out of here the same day. I really cannot get inside this guys head to figure out just what he wants. I suspect he would sign with a team like the Eagles for a lot less money than he is trying to hold us up for. What team is going to pay him Fitz type money which is what he says he wants? I doubt any would. If we trade him I assume the team getting him would have to make a new deal with him prior to a deal being made. Be interesting to see just what someone is really willing to pay him. Actually, I had rather have a good RB than Boldin as we are in good position with receivers but questionable at RB.

Edge is the only proven RB on this team and for a RB is getting old. RB is the weakest position on this team in my opinion and our Achilles heel. If Edge goes down then what? An unproven rookie?

I'm talking about next season. We don't need to extend AW and DD right now.

I do not think I understand why we are having all the money problems to extend the various good players who are looking for deals. I understand you cannot give everyone what they demand but we seem to have more than a few guys who are unhappy. Sadly they are the good ones. Is it because we spent a boatload on Fitz? Do we have any money to play with or is the family holding some of it for their benefit. We appear to be having more problems in this area than most or maybe it is just because I am reading about our guys all the time. Are we managing our CAP in a professional manner? Is Graves in charge of how the CAP is used or is it the Bidwills? I am probably uninformed but it seems Fitz is the only really good player we have for the future. How are we ever going to get over the hump and get a good defense and offense where the players stay together for some years? We seem to lose good guys as fast as we can draft them. Hope this is all just my imagination which is over active. Thank heaven for the Cubs as they are making my sporting life more than tolerable. The bulk of the Cubs team is coming back for the next three years. Like the Cards they used to change players every year but now they are extending their stars to long term contracts. Of course, they do not deal with a CAP which I certainly do not understand as their are so many ways to manipulate it. Teams should have some sort of guy with a creative mind who does nothing but manage the CAP to our benefit.

They can absolutely have enough money for all 3.

Dockett can sit on it for another 2 years minimum. Just signed a new deal last year. Not worried about redoing his deal until the 2010 offseason if even that.

Next on the list is Warner and Dansby. We need him to still be our backup after this season, his last season under contract. Dansby I am starting to think they may just pony up for him if he proves to be a leader again two years in a row. Signed his franchise tag and showed up to the OTA's unlike most Franchise players who would rather wait to sign it and sit out of OTA's hoping not to get injury. Not Dansby he took a risk by practicing without a long term deal, shows me something in doing that.

Then comes Wilson who will be working on the last year of his deal in 2009. I ahve no problems with re-doing a guys contract with one year left. Make this Wilson last contract he will ever need and make him a life long Cardinal.

After them next on the list is A. Smith and Green. Both are UFA's after this season. Depending on how they do and how DRC, Campbell, and Iwebema do(they may be the just as good but cheaper options when it is all said and done). One of two of those needs to be re-signed.

As for Boldin dont think we need to spend 18+ Mill on average a season on a pair of WR's. Just dont like that idea. Who ever got the big contract first no matter if it was Boldin or Fitz I would want to trade the other one. Would rather spend that elsewhere like replacing our LB core whom as of right now Hayes, Okeafer, and Laboy are the only ones signed for the 2009 season.

You're probably right, but I would hope we would do whatever it takes to keep him here. Apart from AW and Rolle, we would be out of playmakers on D.

I sure hope so. He is the most important person on D for us IMO.

This would be the best decision that ownership could do for the TEAM. Totally agree. There are potentially other contracts that will have to be redone too such as, Rolle and Leinart.
