On Friday morning, the news broke that free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers was at the Pittsburgh Steelers facilities. This sent fans and media scurrying and speculation flying about whether or not Rodgers would leave Pittsburgh with a contract. According to NFL reporter Diana Russini, Rodgers has left the Steelers' facilities but the two sides have not come together on a contract as of now.
The next step to keep an eye on is whether Rodgers makes the jaunt east and visits the New York Giants. The Giants are the other team reportedly with an offer on the table for Rodgers' services. Rodgers was released by the New York Jets after two seasons.
Pittsburgh has pushed all their chips to the middle on landing Rodgers this season after failing to re-sign Justin Fields and missing out on Sam Darnold in free agency. Pittsburgh could still look to former starter Russell Wilson who remains unemployed. The Steelers traded for star wide receiver DK Metcalf just before the start of free agency but as of now, his best option to get him the football is Mason Rudolph.
