St. Pierre unsure of how to treat back

Thu, 21 Jan 2010 20:24:50 -0800
Kent Somers, of The Arizona Republic, reports Arizona Cardinals QB Brian St. Pierre (back) dealt with severe back pain throughout the 2009 season. St. Pierre has herniated discs, but he isn't sure what course of action he should take. Surgery to treat his back doesn't always work, but he isn't getting much relief from other treatment.

Problem with back issues is that no one treatment method works for everyone. And basically it's possible to reduce the pain, but typically only temporarily. There is no cure.

As my orthopedic surgeon responded when I told him I was interested in a more permanent solution for my back problems, "There is only one cure, death!"

The best you can hope for is to manage it, to reduce pain levels.

Sucks for St. Pierre, a guy who wants to prove himself in this league. With these back issues, its doubtful he is re-signed.

Agreed.

I am exstatic he got his completions and a TD pass this year. Throw stats out the window, he has been apart of this team, and has been a good team mate.

I definately have sympathy for him and the fact his back is keeping him from what he wants to do.
