The New York Giants are in the quarterback market.
That comes as no surprise to anyone paying attention to the team as of late, but it sends a clear signal that Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston aren't going to be enough.
The duo signed in free agency to help right the ship for New York, knowing that the arrangement would be short lived if a young, franchise quarterback came around.
While that might not be Shedeur Sanders, could it be Jalen Milroe?
The former Alabama signal caller has his supporters within the Giants' building, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. And while Milroe won't be in play when the team makes the third overall pick, he could factor in later on draft night.
Milroe accepted an invite to the NFL draft green room, which came as a surprise given he is far from a lock to be taken in the first round.
New York holds the 34th pick in the draft, making them a trade-up option or one that could stand pat and strike early in Round 2.
Raanan added that he thinks the Giants would take the former Crimson Tide quarterback, saying Milroe is high on the team's list at the position and they have a private workout scheduled as well.
Head coach Brian Daboll notably worked for former Alabama head coach Nick Saban, adding to the intrigue and potential information sharing.
Milroe does come with accuracy concerns, but Daboll previously coached Josh Allen – who had similar issues. Allen has taken off since correcting his mechanics, winning the NFL MVP for 2024. Whether Milroe would develop into a good player is anyone's guess, but Daboll clearly won't be scared off by the prospect's shortcomings.
Milroe wouldn't be forced into action as a rookie with Wilson and Winston. The Giants could afford to let him sit and work out the kinks before taking over in 2026 or 2027.
The 2025 NFL Draft is just a week away, but perhaps the stars are aligning for both sides.
