I just heard this on the radio:cheers:

It's no wonder Big Red had him announce the Budda draft choice! His years of service , loyalty & dedication to the franchise was off the charts!!!

Congrats #17 & let's hope we see you throw 1 more bomb to Mel Gray on induction day lol

i know this likely wont mean much to fans of the Cards post STL days --

but for the old timers -- this is a big deal

curious what happens to the STL Cardinals that the Rams put into their ring of honor in STL

I know Dierdorf was one, i think a few others.....

I think their names are done with that franchise. Realistically they had zero ties to that franchise & never should've been in it in the 1st place, but at least they were honored for a short time.

Terry Metcalf, Jackie Smith, Neil Lomax and Jim Bakken need to follow.
Unfortunately Lomax's complete body of work doesn't qualify him. He only had 2 or 3 really good years otherwise he was streaky and inconsistent and I'm a Lomax fan. Take away 1983-84,87 and he was an average QB. I remember he was so bad one game in 1986 that he got benched in favor for Stoudt. Not to mention that he never won a division title, never really led his team to the playoffs and the only playoff game he had(strike shortened 1982 season), the Cards got blown out. Believe me, I love the guy but he needed a few more good years but unfortunately his hip issues cut his career short. As for the rest of the guys you mention, Metcalf-no, Smith-yes, Bakken-no. Mel Grey, Roy Green, Otis Anderson belong there though.

Love it! Should have happened long ago. I love the ceremonies when they add guys to the ROH, looking forward to this one.

Speaking of Lomax - I was nicknamed "Lomax" by a co-worker back when he was at Portland State running that wacky (at the time) run & shoot offense and putting up silly numbers. Dude called me nothing but "Lomax" for a couple of years. Good times.

Very worthy. He and those teams he led were what entrenched me as a Cardinal fan. He was a tough cookie.

I've been pretending I was Jim Hart in my back yard since 67. I can finally rest and my neighbors can finally quit looking at me like I'm nuts. Congrats, Mr. Hart!

LOVE those old uniforms from the St Louis days! They were simplistic yet sharp looking! Not grand yet very chic/snappy looking! Wish the Cards would wear them in a throwback game sometime in the near future.

What took so long?
Well, IMO, for a while it seemed as though Billy Bids was sore at St. Louis for not giving him his stadium so when he moved to The Valley he wanted to forget that part of the franchise ever existed. Look at the current ROH. There are exactly 4 St. Louis Cardinals-Deirdorf, Larry Wilson, Roy Green and Wherli. After this year it will be bumped up to 5 with Hart. Still like to see Otis Anderson, Mel Grey, and the entire 1975 offensive line get in. Hell, if you held opposing defenses to sacking Hart only 8 times you did something.

Did you know that the Lomax led Portland St. Vikings once scores 105 points against Rodney Gunter's alma mater Delaware St.? Lomax threw 7 TD passes in the first quarter.

They used to call Jim Hart the 'cigarette QB' because he had enough time in the pocket to smoke a cigarette due to the OL and their pass protection :cards:

I remember watching Bob Young on those strongman competitions on Wide World of Sports. Incidentally, I really miss that show.

I didn't follow the team before the relocation in '88, and don't recall actually seeing him play, so I don't know much about him.

Given his tenure with the team, I'm a little surprised he hasn't already been inducted. It's not like there is a huge stable of talent, all waiting their turn. There must be some sort of story there....

Go Cards!!!
