regular price is $199

right now they're offering a 'special price' of $179

does it ever get to $149 before the season starts or is $179 the best you can get for the whole season?

I hate league pass, I don't want all the games I just want the suns games.

Why can't I just pay $50 and get all the suns games, it's not like I can watch all the games that are on somedays.

Stupid league pass..

I think that is the lowest price, and it might have gone up from last season, can't recall.

I agree, and I often thought about this but from business prespective I think NBA can make a whole lot more profit by selling every game as part of one package than individual team packages.

Yep, then everybody would be doing it and they'd be making $130 less per person.

Well maybe if they had some options like a 3 team league pass for $70, 5 team for 100 and then the full league pass.

Who knows maybe they would make more profit because more people would be interested in buying.

I have no interest in buying such an large package for that much money. If I were a arizona resident I would essentially be paying 170 just to see probably 1/4 the suns games that are on the road and not televised nationally. RIPOFF!

Even with me not living in the area there is 1/3 of the suns on national television.

I wish you could mass broadcast local television from slingboxes then at least I could catch the suns homegames.

If tnt/espn/nbatv broadcast 1/3 of the suns season, and arizona broadcasts all the suns homegames, how much of the total chunk of the suns season is that?

In Phoenix, we get most of the home games on cable already; so the League Pass would be to see other teams play.

If I had the time to watch a lot of non-Suns games, maybe I'd be interested. As it is, I probably see only about half the Suns games due to lime limitations.

Has anyone heard definitively what we are going to get on ordinary cable here in Phoenix this year? The last few years have been great with getting all of the games one way or another but I wonder if that is going to last.

Of course, the new thing to worry about is hi-def TV... every time I go into Costco I drool over those wonderfully clear HD pictures. I suppose I could call Cox to see what they say but in others years the people I talked to didn't know the details of what they were going to broadcast of the Suns' games.

Cox has been sending me brochures about HD, which seem to promise some way of recording HD broadcasts - thats important to me for the games. One question I have of someone who has already gone that route is whether the replays are close to the clarity of the broadcasts...

Sometimes halfway through the season you can get a discount, but it is not a big one (maybe 30%) so it is not worth it to wait.

Since I live in Utah (and the local team is the Jazz :barf: ), I get the League Pass and I can watch every game on it except the ones where they play the Jazz. For those, I have to hope for local coverage to help me out. Of course if I still lived in AZ (I'm from Mesa), then League Pass wouldn't be worth it at all. I am happy with the League Pass, I just hope that they start doing more HD games.

i love league pass - this will be my third season with it - my first year was with Cox and the quality was inferior to that of DTV - i'm excited about the HD broadcasts they are promoting for this year - probably should look into more info

I don't think they will drop below the advertised price, but you may be able to leverage it with DTV retentions to get them to throw in a couple freebies for making such a large commitment - which reminds me that I should look into how much the renewal is...........

Cox has like 12 HD stations. For suns games, anything broadcasted on ABC/ESPN/TNT will be available in HD...

When I signed up, an HD box was 6 bucks more than their digital cable box a month. You can get a HDTV DVR for 10 bucks more a month -- that would be your way of recording the games in HD

In terms of regular cable, as far as I know the broadcast agreements haven't changed this season. That means when it isn't national, home games will be on FSAZ and away games on UPN (with some crossover)....

Every Suns game will be available live for Phoenix residents

Thanks Graham but it doesn't sound like you've heard anything definite about the Suns on cable this year - same boat I'm in.

Before I always disliked it when the games were on national channels because their announcers suck for the most part but I guess it will be worth it if they're in HD... and there's always the MUTE button. I suspect any games on ABC will be in HD, since they are broadcasting HD over the air now here in Phoenix.

I just came back from Costco and the TV guy there said they are not selling HD DVR equipment as of now so it looks like I'll have to rent one for a while.

Now I have general question about NBA League Pass... if you get it, does the signal come over your existing cable connection?

I've subscribed to League Pass for a long time (I think about 6 years) and I'm not sure if I'll do it this year. We no longer have our Colorado place so the Suns games will be blacked on League Pass now that we will have only an Arizona address. There are sports packages (other than League Pass) available from some companies like DishNetwork and DirecTV which may work for some viewers. DirecTV has a "Fox Sports Package" that cost a lot less than the League Pass and I suspect you will soon see the same thing from others as well.
I just signed a contract to be a dealer / installer for DishNetwork and they have more HD channels than any other provider. They list 25 on their current brochure but they really have 30 or more. I believe DirecTV now has about 20 HD channels. Also, I believe a law may have recently passed that will allow the purchase of individual channels without buying the "Whole Package"..... I'll see what I can find out and pass on the info. Some of my associates were talking about it last Friday.

just note that if you buy the fox sports package that any non-local sports even that is part of a package will be blacked out

True. I am lucky in my situation that SLC, UT doesn't have a pro hockey or baseball club, so for those sports FSNAZ is my "home" network. So I can see the hockey games and baseball games played on FSNAZ. On the other hand, since it is my home network, buying the respective League Passes would do me no good since they would be blacked out when not played on FSNAZ. That's too bad because I really enjoy hockey.
