I always bring my radio to the game to listen to Pasch and Wolf. Tune in to 92.3 FM b/c the AM does not come in.

But yesterday, about 1/2 the time it would switch to G. Trujillos spanish language cast inside the stadium.

Outside the stadium and in my car 92.3 worked fine.

Any idea what is going on with that? Never happened before.

Anyone else have this issue or is it just my cheapo radio?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'll see what I can find out, but I'd guess it's your cheapo radio since I didn't notice any complaints of this anywhere else. I do think the stadium boosts the signal somehow and that could have played a role.

Don't they tell you to tune to a slightly different frequency inside UOP?

you got something against FM? This year there haven't been any announcements to tune to a slightly different FM frequency to get the "internal" output (broadcast delay). I just tune to 92.3 and all is good - no delay in the broadcast vs reality. There must be a lot of trust or a finger on the dump button just in case....

Bob, we get great reception up in 437. Shouldn't have changed your seats!

I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get wi-fi inside the stadium

Maybe we could set up a donation fund to get jw a new radio?:D

Appreciate the sentiment 40, but please don't start an effort like this.

If you are in charge of the search committee, I am scared that I won't be able to get this bad boy past security.

Does he? Or is that just what he paid to do?

Someday you should have someone translate how he calls a game and you might form a different opinion. IIRC you made your feelings known about English being the official language but that doesn't preclude those who are more comfortable with Spanish from having passion for the team, paid for it or not.

I see no difference between Wolfley and Cantu, both played for the Cards. But I guess it's possible Wolf is just faking it for the money also.

Have you ever heard Spanish announcers call other games or events? Including soccer games?

Every one I have ever heard calls a score as though the world was gonna end if they didn't get the score. Seems to be the norm and almost something that is expected. Rather than a true passion. Its like they do it to get a rise out of the listener rather than really being so excited themselves. To me it is forced for that reason. A translation really isn't necessary IMO.

Last I checked Wolfley doesn't scream for about 10 seconds every time there is a TD?

Never said EVER that someone who is spanish can't have passion for their team either.

I think all of us can admit we thought the world might end if the Cards didn't score:D

The emotion you hear in the voice is more of a cultural manner than forced passion.

Didn't mean to imply you ever said anything about not being passionate if you spoke Spanish, sorry.

btw, Cards were the first to have such offical broadcasts in Spanish and they are broadcast in 12 major cities in Mexico. I venture to say the Cards have lots of fans there. I have seen jerseys in Mexico myself worn by locals

I wasn't trying to say it was a good thing the English channel switched over to Spanish. That would annoy anyone. I sure most people that happened to, as did jw7, would go...wth??

Not trying to start some phony ass debate about whose language should be spoken and where. That's for the PR Forum.

Just commenting that I think the Cardinal Spanish broadcast is well done, that is all.

Are you saying they try to engineer passion? Phooey. Wolfley is the one who is trying to engineer something. Or something.

I like the touchdown calls in Spanish.

Maybe Cantu is an engineer like Whiz...and that's why he gets it

Yeah, in retrospect I kind of regret it. Great 2nd row seats, your 1st row is fantastic.

But when they opened the roof the afternoon sun was just brutal and blinding. Did not know that Kurt would push for closed roof the last 2 years. If I did I woulda kept them.
