question on the Colt game

there was a play were Manning threw a pass which hit his own OL man right in the back and I doubt he reported as an eligible receiver being that he was a guard and there was no flag... the ball was not tipped before it hit the lineman...why was that not a flag...I'm I missing something in the rule book and the play was obvious

what gives???
