People keep saying that he said on the Dan Patrick show he was going to the game. I read the thread posted that day and all it said was Emmitt said he'd be "rooting for Dallas tonight". There's a link to the entire interview which I haven't listened to, did he in fact say he was going, or are people taking the I'll be rooting for them and extrapolating that to mean he said he was going?

Also, there's a quoted part of the interview on ESPN's site.

A slice of Cardinals RB Emmitt Smith's conversation with Dan Patrick:
DP: "Would you ever come back to Dallas to play?
Emmitt: I think I would; why wouldn't I?
DP: "I don't know."
Emmitt: "I mean, I don't know. If the Cowboys wanted me back, I may consider it, but I love Arizona, too. Arizona's been very nice to me. That's something I would have to weigh at the end of the season."

Not having heard the whole thing I don't know the context but again here's a guy in the midst of a possible playoff run and he's saying yeah I'd go be a Cowboy again why wouldn't I. He does say he loves Arizona but it still just again seems odd to me. I can't imagine Eddie George being asked that question today and saying sure I'd go play for the Titans again why not?

I'll have to listen to the whole interview when I get a chance.

What difference does it really make?

This is like people asking the question "Can you support two NFL teams?"

Some say 'no' while others say 'yes'. If Arizona doesn't see him fitting into the gameplan next season then why would he burn his bridges by saying "No I would not return to Dallas".

Emmitt has a long history with Dallas which everyone here knows. Dallas gave him alot and here we all are bitchin and moaning because he wanted to support his old team!! One that we do not even play this year.

Apples and oranges your support has no bearing on the outcome of a game, and there's not a bunch of guys in the lockerroom thinking you are on their side and now wondering if you really are. Nothing Emmitt has done on the field points to him just being here for a check, he's played his butt off for us IMHO, but I'd still like to think when faced with that question there's a better answer than he gave.

How about I'll cross that bridge if I come to it, I'm a Cardinal, we're trying to make the playoffs that's all I care about right now? That's the answer I'd have liked to hear.

Nothing earth shattering just a question because people keep saying he said on the Dan Patrick show he was going to the game, but on the earlier thread on that show, nobody actually said that they said he would be rooting for Dallas tonight. If he said it fine, if he didn't, the implication is the Cards may NOT have known he was going.

That would have been a much better response.

How many times have you been put on the spot and said the 'not so perfect' thing?

More than I can count for me :D Just ask my wife!!

OK unless the show was longer than the link ESPN provides, I have listened to the ENTIRE interview, and Emmitt never once announces he's going to Dallas for the game. He says tell his family and friends in Dallas I love em, I miss em, and I wish them good luck tonight. Not one mention him going to the game that I heard.

We now move into Day 4 of the Offensive on Emmitt's MNF appearance.

In your bunkers, boys....

And to think I never thought I'd see something more overblown and overanalyzed than the Hargraves hire.

Just clearing something up, people have said that the Cards knew, and they knew this because Emmitt said it on Dan Patrick. That link contains no such remark from Emmitt, so either they didn't record the whole show on that link, or people took Emmitt saying he wished them good luck and would be rooting for them, and extrapolated that to be Emmitt announcing he was attending the game.

From the link posted, I didn't hear him make any such announcement, nor does he mention even in passing that he sprained his ankle on Sunday.

When you consider that Patrick DIRECTLY asked him about his health when discussing if he feels his age or not, odd that he wouldn't mention a sprained ankle that's now preventing him from practicing.

Emmitt was at the Monday Night game, they showed him on camera! That aside, I don't care where he's thinking of going back to or forward to as long as he keeps playing the same way he's been playing while he's a Cardinal. He does give it all he has and then some!

I agree he's played very well, he also told Patrick he sees no reason not to expect 1200 yards rushing from himself this year. Now if it were me and i had a sprained ankle that might keep me out a game, and I was asked that question knowing I need 570 yards in 7 games and because of my ankle I may miss one of those 7 games, I might point that out to Patrick. But that's just me.

Yes.

Actually if he'd just NOT said I feel better today than I have in weeks, some Mondays are tougher than others this is one of the better ones, I might not be so suspicious that on Wednesday he has an ankle sprain that happened on Sunday.

Having had about 5000 ankle sprains in my lifetime I am quite familiar with the process, roll ankle, hurts, ice it, tape it, go back in and play. Next day ankle swells, hurts, rest, ice. Can't recall one time in my life where an ankle I sprained on Sunday waited until Wednesday to swell up and hurt. You ever had an ankle sprain like that Clif?

We'll see on Sunday, I say if he doesn't start and play his normal role, it's because Green is mad at him, not because he has an ankle sprain.

I havent had a sprained ankle in at least 10 years, so I couldn't tell you. I just think that this whole thing is growing legs that need to be chopped off

Not chopped off but maybe benched or brought in off the bench for one game to show that no set of legs is bigger than the team as a whole.
