How would you surround Brees with any kind of talent if you traded up into the top 4? He's supposed to just throw undrafted rookie free agents open?

You have to find a few gems. Brees also threw to an undrafted rookie with SD... Antonio Gates. Worked out quite well

You would have to cut a lot of guys to afford Brees and FA WRs plus try an improve the OL.

Not really. You'd just have to get creative with contracts and push money into future seasons, which isn't a cap killing like in the old days of the salary cap. You have to be willing to put a LOT of cash on the line, on the other hand. Will we be that ballsy? Considering the state of the position Keim has put us in, we should be.

this draft is deep in oline as well as WR... its not out of the question to think we could draft two WR's this year in the second and third rounds...or third and fourth..and have those guys make significant contributions this season.

Well that’s a ball buster. Can’t fault Brees for staying in NO. He loves that city and the city loves him.

yeah... I think Brees only took the call as a courtesy... he was never leaving NO
