Do the Suns still have the 8 million dollar trade exception they got from Seattle in the Kurt Thomas deal?

I can think of a few players currently lingering on some trade blocks who would make for nice pickups with that exception.

Yes, afaik. We'll never use it though. Possibly in the event of a major injury, but other than that I can't see Sarver ponying up the cash.

yeah we still have it but i think the point of trading thomas was to dump the salary, not to get a useful trade exception

Actually, if it appears that Marion is going to bolt on us then it might give us a small window to ease the burden (though I imagine a sign-and-trade would be used).

They have a $2.9mil TE that expires 7/11, and an $8.1mil TE that expires 7/20. Without Marion's salary on the books, they'd be able to use the MLE and some of the TE's.
