In order to come up with my mock draft, I need answers to the following:
1. Lewis-Can he play as the nickle safety? We know that Francisco can't as he's more suited as a run defender/ST type. Is it Lewis or do we have to draft a center fielder?
2. Wright-Seems he is a good third down back, but can he return kickoffs? Steve Breaston is a PR but I don't see him as a KR. If not Wright, then who?

Appreciate any help.

I think Hood or McFadden may get a shot at playing the "centerfield" safety position. But don't rule out Aaron Fransisco since he has nine lives when it comes to playing for the Cardinals for some reason. I don't think Lewis going to see much action in the secondary.

The Cardinals are a bit hand cuffed at the kickoff return position. JJ Arrington, and Steve Breaston are the only ones to handle KR last year.

Sean Morey did it once, I think by way of a bad kickoff in 2007.

Jason Wright had one kick return last year, three returns in 2007, zero in 2006, and one return in 2005. Doesn't seem like he is too good at it, but can do it in a pinch.

:yeahthat:

I think he pretty much nailed it. I talked to a Niner fan after the Lewis signing and he described him as a special teamer who was a liability with the regular defense. If anything, he's an in the box safety but we should all hope not to see him covering a deep third.

Sounds as if Lewis is a clone of Francisco, and we need a FS. Also, need a fourth CB who can also return kicks. If this happens then Lewis and Francisco, barring injuries, will be competing for the backup SS spot. JMO.

Sounds exactly like a clone of Francisco. He is a Davis guy and would cost nothing to get rid of. May the best non-covering safety win!!!

Lewis is a Francisco clone. No way he should see the field outside of ST.

Wright is mehh at returning. He wouldn't give us any help there.
