I think we had the Cardinals' board narrowed down very well. Chris Sanders and I were talking about it today and the 4 we had (as well as many others of you):

1. Floyd
2. Barron
3. DeCastro
4. Ingram
I had Ingram, DeCastro, Reiff and Floyd in that order.

I just never found out that much about Barron, and my impression was the Reiff arm-size deficit was something like 1.5-inches (would that be enough to really matter)?

Today is "Kool-Aid Day." Everyone made out like a bandit and every GM is a genius.

How much did the Cards victory of the Cowboys last year influence their decision to draft Claiborne?

PP was outstanding in that game. JJ publicly praised the job our coaching staff did game planning them.

I give my theory about a 10% chance of being correct but I do like remembering that and every victory against the Cowboys.

I would. In one instance especially with a guy like Weedon. If you need a QB to play right away and you see your window to win to be 4-5 years based on your roster.

I know they had years to develop but John Elway won a SB at age 38. Kurt Warner took the Cards to the SB at age 37. Brett Farve had a QB rating of 107.2, threw 33 TDs to 7 INTs, and had the Vikings at 12-4 at age 40.

Times have changed.

A guy that had what, 14 or 15 starts at the college level?

No way.

Are we talking about Brandon Weedon? He was redshirted and then played 4 years at Oklahoma State and was the starter in both 2010 and 2011. He was starting QB in 23 wins over those two seasons and beat both Griffin III and Andrew Luck.

Blake Gideon DB for the Longhorns started every game for 4 years in college. He wouldn't last a minute in an NFL game.

My brother is a huge Colorado State fan. He complained for years about the BYU White Shirt program where their athletes would play two years, go on mission for two years, and then come back two years older than CSU's players in the same grade.

Thanks. I have heard of parents in Texas and OK who hold their kids back from starting school so they are older for competing in sports. I just figured his parents took it to the extreme. :D

That really does happen. My son for instance will turn 18 the day he graduates from High School. We could have easily have held him back a year.

Should have too. Women! He went from 5'8" 155lbs as a Soph to 6'1" 215 as a Junior. He could have been a 6'1" 215lb Sophomore. But Momma wouldn't go for holding him back. :bang:

:D

At least 26 starts.

You're right. Got my numbers wrong.

Still, a 28 year old QB who will probably take 2-3 years to develop isn't worth a 1st round pick. Even with QBs having success later in their careers as shown lately.

Exactly. Most great QB's will play well into the late thirty's. So if you can get 10 solid years out of a QB, then he definitely merits a 1st round grade. Now, I don't know if Weeden will be good or not but in theory if they think he will be a good one, go for it.

Why do you think 2 to 3 years to develop. He does come from a very simple offense but it should only take him a year or less.

Cam Newton, Dalton, Flacco, Ryan etc all started their rookie years.

I don't think it will take Weedon that long either because in addition he should be more mature and does have professional sports experience as well.
