OK, I will meet you 1/2 way. Give a kicker a chance within 40, and I agree.

Who are the clutch kickers out there? Adam Vinatieri and who else?

Everyone knows Scott Norwood for his miss. And Gary Anderson who was perfect until it mattered.

Offer a name of someone else available and I'm open to discussion.

Within 40 should be a chip shot. In my book, you don't get extra credit for hitting those. Call me Bill Parcells, but that's just part of the job. 40 and longer is where I expect a kicker to earn his keep. He needs to be able to hit them for 40+, and even 50+, in clutch situations. Do I expect 75% accuracy at 50+? No, but I sure in the hell expect better than 15%.

And Rackers DID do his job more often than not this season. Did he muff some FGs when we really needed them? Hell yeah. Did he have a worse year than last? Of course, how could he not, really?

I'd rather keep him and see how things pan out than cut him in the off season or pull a Bill Parcels midway through 2007.

Your statement is contradictory. By muffing FGs when we really needed them he quite certainly did NOT do his job. Tell me he shouldn't have made the FG at the end of the Chicago game. Tell me he didn't utterly fail.

Like I said, if we can't line up a replacement, we HAVE to keep him. Problem is, putting the game into his hands at the end now scares the living bejesus out of me.
