Las Vegas' rushing attack ranked dead last in the NFL a season ago as the Raiders averaged a measly 79.8 rushing yards per game.

Alexander Mattison led Las Vegas in rushing with 420 yards on 132 carries with four touchdowns. Mattison departed Las Vegas in free agency, inking with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal.

Ironically enough, the Raiders' lone free agent running back acquisition thus far has been former Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert. The 32-year-old running back rushed for 2,181 yards and 23 touchdowns in 44 games over three seasons with the Dolphins. Mostert signed a one-year deal with Las Vegas.

Still, the Raiders are also replacing second-leading rusher Ameer Abdullah from last season and could use a jolt in their backfield.

For those reasons, the Raiders have been one of the franchises that NFL draft analysts have linked to former Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty. Las Vegas should have a great chance to select Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft if the Raiders so choose.

It certainly appears as though there's some legitimate interest in Jeanty from within the Raiders' front office, too. Raiders general manager John Spytek attended Boise State's Pro Day on Wednesday to get an up-close look at the star running back.

Jeanty didn't participate in drills at the NFL combine and he didn't run a 40-yard dash on Wednesday either. The 5-foot-9 running back weighed in at 213 pounds. The Jacksonville, Fla., product won the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award during a sensational 2024 season that saw him also finish as the Heisman Trophy runner-up.

Jeanty carried 374 times for 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns. The Boise State star also caught 23 passes for 138 yards and one more score in 2024.

During the 2023 season, Jeanty reeled in 43 passes for 569 yards and five touchdown catches. In his Boise State career, Jeanty rushed for 4,769 yards and 50 touchdowns and tallied 862 receiving yards and six scores.

Though he didn't run the 40-yard dash or do the bench press, Jeanty did go through some drills and ran some routes for the onlookers.
