A recent comment made by Sylvester Stallone to TV Guide, when asked about his movie career: "I hope to start shooting the next Rambo in September."

I was trying to think of something sarcastic to say, but instead was floored when I realized it's already been 17 years since the last Rambo film (Rambo III was released in 1988 ).

You're confusing Rambo (I,II,and III) with Rocky (I,II,III,IV, and V). :D

Sylvester Stallone Returns for Rambo IV
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 28, 2005

Millennium Films in conjunction with Emmett/Furla Films and Equity Pictures are partnering on a $50 million Rambo IV, says The Hollywood Reporter. Sylvester Stallone is attached to star.

The story centers on former Vietnam vet John Rambo, who is living a reclusive life back home in the U.S. But when a girl goes missing, he is forced to abandon his quiet lifestyle and take justice into his own hands.

No director is attached, and the screenplay is in the early stages. The film is set to begin shooting in the spring in Mexico and the U.S.

Millennium describes Rambo IV as a return to the franchise's original roots.

I hope IV is more like I than II or III.

First Blood was really good, IMHO.

I love First Blood! How could anyone not love Stallone vs Brian Dennehy with a bit of Dick Crenna and David Caruso thrown in for good measure?

Stallone's Vietnam monologue at the end comes close to ruining it, but it is still one of those movies that I always watch when it's on.

The best line is...

Dennehy: "I'm gonna pin that Medal of Honor to his liver". Classic!

I like: "We found Rambo's body. It stole an army truck and blew up a gas station on the other side of town."

I visted the city where they filmed First Blood during a family vacation. They say it's Oregon in the movie but it's actually Hope, British Columbia. I made my dad drive that way after visiting Vancouver on our way back to Seattle.

Absolutely beautiful place.... when I enter the witness protection program I am totally asking to go there.

I drove through Hope too, on the way to Ketchikan. I decided to drive instead of fly so I could go through Hope. The forest and cliffs are amazing. I don’t think they actually say he’s in Oregon, I think he just says he’s headed to Portland.

I believe the town is supposed to be located in Washington state.

Yeah, I assumed that too. When the sheriff asks him where he’s headed and he says Portland, the sheriff says, “I thought you were headed north, Portland is south”, he must be in Washington.

The novel was set in the town of Madison, Kentucky.

The movie was set in Hope, Washington (really Hope, British Columbia).

I'm glad they changed the setting.

I agree, police chasing Rambo through a cornfield just wouldn’t have been the same.

Looks like a release date is set for May 28, 2007. Filming is scheduled to start next month.

I know there are some Lost fans out there. Who is this Matthew Fox guy? Is he any good? He's in the cast.

My favorite was when teh Colonel showed up at base camp and said "I don't think you understand Sheriff, I'm not here to save Rambo from you, I'm here to save you from him"
