I enjoyed this movie, a lot. They didn't have the cheesy military guy recruiting him for one more mission. Instead, it was a somewhat believable situation. The other cool thing about this film is the reality of the violence. It was in your face, and it showed how gruesome this kind of fighting really is.
Yeah, I noticed that in the trailer...I hope it does well at the box office, but manages to get to dvd early, as that is when I will be able to see it. :(

I was really suprised at how well the Merc's fought... I really expected them to get their asses handed to them. I was glad it wasn't another 'one man army' crap!!!

Yeah, I'm glad it wasn't the 'one man army' thing too. When the Mercs were introduced, I was actually afraid that they'd get their asses handed to them. In reality, when you put mercs like that against low-level soldiers, they will generally kick ass. Granted, what they were able to do was over-the-top, but that's movies for ya. I like how they handled the mercs.

Wow what a fun ride. That was one of the best times I have had at the movies in a long time and I have seen some great ones. Nothing like some sheer kick ass brutality. I LOVED IT!

Holy flippin Crow. What a thrill it was to see my favorite movie character of all time back on the big screen. I had given up hope in the late 90's that a 4th movie would ever get made.

This movie was awesome. A ninety minute bloody adventure kicking the arse of the bad guys. The gritty filming style made me feel like I was right there in the action. Rambo had a few good lines. Nothing too cheesy like the last two. The flashback scene actually gave me a few chills. Loved the ending, absolutely perfect.

Very enjoyable and worth every penny I spent at the theater to see it.

I wonder how this movie is doing with the 18-25 yr old bracket. It will probably see more success with those of us who grew up watching the original movies as compared to the kids who never really knew who Rambo was.

Thats good to hear. I was just curious as to how the movie would do with younger crowds.

I'm 35, I didn't see First Blood in the theater (saw it on video) but I waited in line for part 2 on opening night with a neighbor kid and his parents. After I saw the movie I read the first book (Rambo dies in the book) and what an awesome story.

I'm glad this last movie was so well done. It did the series justice IMO, I was afraid it would be too over the top (even for Rambo) and lose a lot of its value.

I rented this last night and loved it. It wasn't cheesy and the realism of the battle scenes was crazy.

I watched this last night, too. It was okay.

But, it was by far the most violent movie I've EVER seen. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, it just is.

Did you ever see The Passion of the Christ?

No.

But I've seen Apocolypto, which a lot of people said the violence was over the top (no punny reference intended), and that didn't come close to the gratuitous violence in this one.

Again, I'm not complaining. I was just amazed at how much gore there was.

Passions is a different type of violence. When Christ was wipped with the 'cat of nine tails', that was brutal!!!

R4 was refreshing because He (Rambo) wasn't a one man army.

Yes and no, right? I mean, he was the one doing the killing when the mercs were hunkering down (at least twice).

Also, minor point, but it still bugged me a bit: Why did he have to take the time to forge a machete before going up river on the mission? (other than the obvious: it looked cool). Who says "A dangerous mission? Damn, I need a new machete. Gimme a couple of hours!" :)

Rambo didn't do all the killing though. The Merc sniper was good as well as a few others. When I first saw the merc team I thought they would all die because they were arguing amongst each other and they didn't seem very team oriented. Out of no where these guys kicked some butt and each in there own way were hero's. Yes Rambo saved the team (twice I believe) but I fully expected Rambo saving everybody while the merc team looked like a bunch of boots...

The machete.... Only thing I can think of is in his first movie he had his big @$$ bowie knife. It was a throwback to the first movie (he also carried a bow as well).

Stallone actually said that he went over the top on the violence on purpose to really make a point on just how violent and how bad Burma actually is in realy life.

Wow..... Intense flick.

Gore level was on almost an NC-17 level IMO. But..... It closed the chapter quite well.

Really..... What more could anyone expect? I guess more "i'm a broody guy" line would have been good.

What did you guys think about the ending? I'm a pretty hard core Rambo fan, so the last scene brought a tear to my eye.
