Matthew Stafford spent seven seasons watching his defenses in Detroit have to figure out how to stop one of the league's top wideouts of last decade, Davante Adams. The All-Pro was a living nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators during his time in Green Bay, catching passes from a future hall-of-fame quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

Fast forward to 2025, the 32-year-old Adams will now be on the receiving end of the ball from the 37-year-old Stafford, with the two former NFC North stars teaming up in LA. The now 12th-year wideout who signed a two-year $44 million deal with the Rams earlier this month and will step in the place of the recently released Cooper Kupp, who, following an eight-year career in Los Angeles that featured a Super Bowl title and MVP award, joined the Seattle Seahawks in free agency.

The decision to sign the veteran wide receiver was one of the most significant signings of this free-agency period. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin currently ranks it as the top move made this month. The acquisition could be the Rams' final effort to secure another Super Bowl title, especially with an aging Stafford at the helm.

It might not be long before Los Angeles is back in pure rebuild mode, this time on the offensive side, if Matthew Stafford ages ungracefully at 37. As long as Stafford is under center, Sean McVay's group might as well be aiming for a deep run. And Adams, though also aging, remains the total package out wide, giving Puka Nacua an improved running mate on the perimeter. Even if he's past his prime, the former Green Bay Packers star should get a boost from escaping his dysfunctional setups of recent years.

Since 2020, Adams has recorded five consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. Before the 2024 season, he achieved 100 or more receptions each year from 2020 to 2023. Overall, the six-time Pro Bowler has tallied 957 receptions, totaling 11,844 yards and 103 touchdowns.

Adams will join forces with All-Pro Puka Nacua to form what is expected to become one of the league's top WR duos. Alongside Tutu Atwell and Tyler Higbee, this could give the Rams another top-10 passing attack.
