It is so cool when - in a "foreign land" you run into a Cardinal rooter (and an ASFN'er) at that.

Early yesterday Sat.), I was conducting my once a month pillage of COSTCO (i.e. get in; buy the merch and get out fast before the weekend hordes descend) when I see these two cute kids in a shopping cart wearing red StL Cardinal baseball caps. I check to see who's pushing the cart and it's this dude with a tan baseball cap with the familiar Arizona Cardinals logo on it.

I yell out: "Yo! Double Cardinal fans?" and introduce myself. The guy looks at me and says: "Jeff! It's Dylan from ASFN!" (Small world. High fives all around. Dylan introduces me to his petit other half. How about that! - a small but boisterous Cardinal reunion in the middle of COSTO of all places)

Dylan (aka Dylanbw) hails from Red Bank, NJ (a few clicks down the road). Unlike this couch potato (who will be watching the game on FOX5 with the sound off while listening to Wolf and Pasch call the game on Internet radio), Dylan will be at the Meadowlands cheering the Big Red to (hopefully) an impressive win.

Regards from Nuevo Jersey (aka "Cardinal Country")

that is SO cool!

The closest I've ever gotten to meeting a Cardinal fan in my state (Wisconsin) was a classmate wearing a Tillman jersey (but he was a Bears fan.. but still.. it was awesome!)

Last night at a high school football game, I looked around and saw a guy wearing a red Shipp jersey. It was the first person I've ever seen wearing a Cards jersey in S.D. that wasn't part of my immediate family. I tracked hime down and told him as much. He replied, "I collect jerseys and someone got me this because they knew I wouldn't have one from the Cardinals. Are you a fan of Shepp?" What a let down! :(

I was working as a legal adviser for the students at KU back around the turn of the century. Some student comes in with a Cards hat. I'm thinking, I don't care if committed a murder, he's getting the best legal advice ever given to any student in Lawrence Kansas. I'm all "right on Cardinals" He tells me its his roommates hat he just grabbed on the way out the door. Man do I ever hate that.

And then you told him to confess and beg for leniency from the judge, right? :D

I saw a guy in a David Boston jersey a couple of years ago in Erie PA at the County Fair watching a modified fastpitch softball game. Another Cardinal fan? No, an Ohio State fan who bought the jersey because it was cheap. Didn't know anything about the Cardinals. :(

I can't remember what he did or if he was there to divorce his wife or work on his taxes or what. But I will say for him, most people don't even have the balls to put on a Cards hat on their way out the door that belongs to the roommate. They are more likely to grab roomie's yankees hat or the like.

Driving from Niagra Falls to Pittsburgh to go to Kennywood Amusement Park and watch the Cards play the Pirates at Pittsburgh's new stadium.

Couldn't pass up the country's largest County Fair. It was as big as some of the State Fairs I've been to.

Turns out that you were the smart one watching from home, as that second half was brutal to watch in person. Very happy to report a relatively high number of Cardinals fans were present at the game on Sunday....many Tillman (myself included), Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin, and even one sweet Dansby jersey(s) were sighted at the game. Too bad we can't run the ball for two feet, or coer a kick/punt return.

Perhaps we'll get an east Coast playoff game to attend??
