I was thinking about this tonight after someone mentioned Lorenzo Lynch in one of the other threads.

So here's my top few, any I'm missing? Mind you I'm saying AZ cardinals, so no Larry Wilson :D

1. Adrian Wilson
2. Tim McDonald
3. Tommy Bennett
4. Kwammie Lassiter
5. Terry Hoage
6. I really want to say Chuck Cecil, but he was really only good for the Packers & sucked here after the $30k fine.
7. Lorenzo Lynch

Gotta include A. Wilson, don't ya?

Rolle (or Francisco) will be the 6th different free safety to play alongside Adrian Wilson.

Lassiter 2001
Dexter Jackson 2002
Ohalete 2003
Griffith 2004-5
Holt 2006

(Of course I'm not counting temporary subs just the regular starters)

I'll take that as a YES from Duckjake. Cheesy may not agree and I gotta wonder why.

If Rolle does not beat out Francisco then he has to be labeled a bust. I'm not giving him the "new to the position learning curve" excuse. I truly expect him to not only be the starter but a difference maker this year.

Drafting DRC has potentially made our secondary the best in the NFL. :koolaid:
Any kind of pass rush and this group will double their interceptions from last year. I'll wait for the stat geeks to blow this last statement into shreds. :)

Hated Chuck Cecil. The guy was a cheap shot artist who just hurt people. Couldn't cover my mother.

In today's game, he'd last about 6 games, with three suspensions for intentional helmet to helmet hits. Then he'd be out of the league.

agreed Chuck was one of those go for the hit forget about the ball type guys that drive me nuts. He was also one of the guys who got such a reputation for late hits that he'd get penalized for perfectly clean hits because refs just got used to flagging him.

Definitely McDonald, AW, and Tillman.

I am horrified I ommitted Tillman. :(

At the same time, I love safeties like Tillman and Cecil. Big hitters. ...and Cecil's hit on that Redskins TE Middleton was totally legal.

At the risk of pissing off everybody here, Pat Tillman was not a particularly good player and should not be included on any list of good safeties.

I dunno. When he was an RFA, the Rams came after him with a pretty decent offer sheet.

I absolutely 100% believe Skkorp is just trying to drum up argument here, jim, you're very very good at that ( :) ), but IIRC he was a pro bowl alternate one year. He was never fast, but he was usually in good position, played the 4-4 cub defense wing position perfectly, and was a great tackler, rusher & hitter from the defensive backfield. He had decent ball skills too IIRC.

Brave and bold statement. I would argue that he was the 3rd best safety we have had to this point.

I would have to go with this Since I have followed the team since 93, So I wouldn't be able to place Tim McDonald Correctly.

1.) A. Wilson
2.)K. Lassiter
3.)Pat Tillman
4.)Tommy Bennett

I Know there was Brent Alexander, T Hoage, A Waters, Matt Darby, not mentioned

Lassiter was a better special teamer than Safety, WAY overrated and I never quite understood that, his best game came against a QB that ended up being a back up in the XFL. Lorenzo Lynch was a drug using thug and his play was nothing special. The fact that Tommy Bennett is on any list shows how bad the quality at Safety has been in AZ.
