mostly agree, except I would change

RB/Average - I do think Trey is going to be pretty good so this could move to Above Average. Not sure how you could possibly say elite - look at where our RB's are ranked for Fantasy Football
DL/Below Average - Yes it has been greatly improved, but we still have a bunch of journeymen and a couple of young guys who haven't really proven much.

Some of this is due to so many unproven players on the depth chart. When you are adding 4 CBs with 0 and 1 year of experience, you can't really project much.

It is a little shocking how bad AZ still is at DL, EDGE, CB, and WR in year 2. They are counting on a lot of young players to make a big impact which is a risky proposition.

I'm a little surprised about how bearish y'all are on the offensive line. It seemed like a lot of people are glad to move on from The Captain and expect PJJ to make The Leap next year.

We have a seasoned offensive line room with strong competition for the one open spot (LG). We have two former first-round picks and a second-round pick who all have significant NFL snaps and either in or entering their physical prime for the position.

As a unit, they were extremely efficient at the end of the season with Elijah Wilkinson as the starter and little pushing him through camp.

The CB room will be above average. With drafting Max Melton, the 2nd best CB in the draft and Eliajah Jones the 4th best in the draft will make this CB room well above average with Garrett Wilson and Sean Murphy-Bunting. A better pass rush makes the CBs and Ss much better.
I believe that the WR room will be better than we are expecting, especially with the TE group.
I also believe that the OL is above average, which was number 5 rushing last year and with the upgrades made this off season.
I'm optimistic for the upcoming season.

I would agree. Individually.. PJJ did very well as a rookie. Hernandez played really well. Williams is better that Hump, Froholdt rated as the 6th best center in the 2nd half of the year. Wilkinson started bad, but played quite well when he returned into the starting line-up.

But as a group they played above average IMO. Best rushing attack and top half in pass pro in the second half of the year.

I'm optimistic too - meaning I think the cards can be an average team - when their talent at most positions is still below average.

This is mainly because I like the coaching staff, and our QB which is by far the most important position. Both I think will be above average.

You could be right that our rookies do quite well and become above average players. I think it is a bit silly to expect that though since the failure rate for draft picks - even first rounders is over 50%.

I have them as average until I can see PJJ be better than that. Fro, Will, and Jonah are all known average commodities IMO. I do believe the group benefits from the amount of rushing the Cardinals do. If PJJ elevates his game and competition brings production to the LG spot, could end the season as above average.

I think this is a big leap of faith. The #2 and #3 CBs combined will have 6 games started if Melton and Williams win those roles. The #1 CB was average at best last year to be generous. Also, no favors from the pass rush.

I have no issues with faith, but there are no real indicators that this group will even be average.

tough call at this point. I would grade the OLine as above average...

hard to judge without a hopium infusion... RB is not elite right now...
However, if things work out as hoped/planned for... RB, TE, and OLine should all be Elite.
The wr group should be average...thats taking into consideration there are a few very good groups out there.
our corners...they are young...corners notoriously have rough rookie seasons...with this group I expect a lot of bonehead plays with a handful of holy crap plays sprinkled in. Safety play makes up for some of it..secondary...average.
I like the dline..I would call it average. These guys can collapse the front of the pocket and stop the run.
OLB...damn...so system dependent. we got some guys who can play... but the world only looks at pass rush and as it stands we dont really have any.... way below average. which brings down the grade for the secondary.

I agree with all of this. I would probably say RB is Above Average just to be cautious, but I think we just drafted the next star RB in the NFL. Benson is going to be a monster. You just rarely see his kind of speed combined with the size/power/tackle breaking he brings. James Conner is a good comp body wise...but imagine Conner having the speed to just run away from 1/2 the contact he has to bull his way through....thats Benson.

I predict by week 8 we are seeing Benson making plays like David Johnson did once he finally cracked the lineup. David Johnson got very limited chances his rookie year, but it seemed like every time he touched the ball he was doing something great. I think Benson is going to be very similar.

As a receiver and returner, this is true. But he was extremely mid as a runner in his limited attempts his rookie season. Both Andre Ellington and Chris Johnson went down with injuries in Week 11 against San Francisco, but he took the job in those last five weeks and never let go.

Bruh. Tim Hightower's rookie season sucked.

What concerns me still is the depth on defense. It doesn't take much for the averages to go to below average across the board.

what concerns me most is that unless one of our 2nd year guys take a humungous step forward or a rookie just completely breaks out, there is still not one legitimate playmaker on the defense.

I expect the offense to be flat out good. but this D could be close to as bad as last year's was.

There was a quantum leap forward on the defensive line, but it’s a problem that the (likely) third and fourth best players on our defense are rookies who haven’t played a down. The best player on our defense had zero sacks, interceptions, or passes defended last year(!!!!).

Like the floor has been raised on that group but the ceiling is way low.
