Too early? Nah. Never too early for draft talk and thankfully the Cards do not need one of the 1st rounders. My rankings and thoughts.

#1 - Trevor Lawrence

after Trevor it gets interesting.

The rest of the field alphabetically;

Justin Fields - Ohio State.

My thoughts and questions. Is he another Cardale Jones/Dwayne Haskins. The cast of skill players around theses guys has always been NFL caliber, so is that what makes them seem great?

Mac Jones - Alabama

Late bloomer with 1 year of experience and like Fields is surrounded by NFL level players.

Trey Lance - N. Dakota State

Limited experience, but has a skill set. Plays against mediocre competition. Needs to blow up at Combine.

Kyle Trask _ Florida

Right now is putting up the best #s in the SEC. Size and skills.

Zach Wilson - BYU

He makes me and a whole bunch of experts say Wow. Skills and smart and a whole bunch of gunslinger in him. Watch him on game film.

They are all 1st rounders with the need for QBs out of this draft a priority.

Jets - Need Lawrence

Redskins - Need a QB. After Haskins do they go for another Buckeye in Fields?

New England - Oh boy. This is strange territory for the Pats needing a QB this highly ranked.

Bears - Trubisky and Foles. Need say no more

Saints - Brees is done. Winston ???? Taysom Hill ???

Cowboys - Dak wants $50 mill/year. 1st round rookie is cheaper and cap friendly

Steelers - Continually looking for Ben's successor

Buccaneers - Brady 45 years old next year

Not to flip the conversation but I heard an interesting question on PTI. Has there ever been a great QB that came from Ohio State? Kirk Herbstreet is the last Qb that I can remember from the Buckeyes.

Nope. Same for Alabama, except for Joe Namath, but great is a stretch with him. I have long held that the surrounding cast can make certain players "look great".
