Hope he got paid well because going from Az to Tenn is a huge drop off!

Good fit for him playing for Dick LeBeau and for a team that is on an upswing.

Lost: Sowell, R. Johnson, Bobbie Massie, Sean Weatherspoon

Signed: Tyvon Branch, Evan Mathis.

adios Rashad. You were a solid player for us.

I'm still hoping we get Powers back at a one-year deal. Doesn't seem like he's lighting up the FA market.

MJ reported at the beginning of FA that Powers had told the Cardinals he wanted a deal that would pay him $7M per. No wonder his market isn't lighting up.

He won't have to worry about wearing out before the playoffs in TN, that's for sure.

Hope he does well as well.

I think SK thinks we upgraded physically. Don't know about mentally, or who will pick up the slack by making the calls. But we needed to get faster there as Rashad was a liability.

But we could just be closing one hole by opening another. We'll see.

A 1 year deal doesn't sound like he got much, and makes me wonder why we didn't try to re-sign him. Maybe he got one of those 1 year 5 million dollar deals or something. If it was like 2, I'd be surprised why we didn't bring him back.

Listening to him on Bertrand's show.

Said we never made him an offer.

I'm surprised and not surprised. Never a "star" but for all the lip-service how instrumental he was in making sure everyone was lined up properly... I'm surprised no offer.

just my opinion; but, I'm guessing one year deal was so he isn't "stuck" in Tenn for the rest of his career - though he said it was to prove he isn't a system guy.

Wish him well. Seems like a genuine good guy.

Go Cards!!!

I'm not surprised they didn't offer him a contract. They already have 4 safeties in Branch, Swearinger, Badger, and Jefferson. Plus, it's a real possibility they draft one.

I just think they wanted to upgrade athletically. They needed more speed and agility. He was a liability in that way. He was a few notches under guys like PP, Honey Badger, Buchanan, etc. Looking around, the great secondaries have guys more athletic then Rashad.

Rashad can and was picked on at times. We might have removed that hole. We might have added a different one. But overall I think we can get guys to pick up the defensive QB'ing and Rashad wasn't going to become more athletic.

Sadly, it makes sense. To commit to him, would of been to commit to that with some pretty high dollars. Once they made the decision not to commit that to him, and to seek an upgrade, they needed to act on it. They did with Branch, so there wasn't much of a chance for Rashad to come back.

I think all of us would of loved for him to come back cheaply, but ultimately we moved on, and he found something. Branch is a far superior athlete. Will he be the defense's QB or someone else? Who knows.

But it's a tough deal for Rashad Johnson. Keim probably felt it was possible and needed to upgrade the position, and couldn't invest into Rashad what Rashad wanted.

Of course I could be wrong. I hope he does well though. He deserves it. He puts it all out on the field.

We didn't offer him a deal, and it's possible we didn't want to upset him with a low one, or commit to someone they want to upgrade. But as I said, it seemed like a longshot he'd return when we got Branch.

They might really see something in Swearinger too.

Guy played with a lot of heart, but at times, it seemed like he was a finger tip away from making the tackle. Good to see him move on with class and not give the team the middle finger, although I am not sure he is capable of that anymore.
