In the TV shots it really didn't look like there were THAT many fans in purple tonight. Yeah, they made some noise, but after the first quarter they didn't have much to cheer about. It sure looked like a lot of red in UofP. And I hope the Cardinals go all red the rest of the home schedule. ;)

I was very proud of those CARDINAL fans that did'nt need to sell thier tickets.Glad for those who made tons of money off the norse folk. You can pay for your Playoff tickets and next years season tickets now.

Those that were there REPRESENTED IN A MIGHTY WAY.It was finally back to a very loud crowd once again that did'nt get much credit from the broadcast crew at all.VERY PROUD....

I have to eat crow big time! If the crowd was 30% Vikings fans I would be shocked. Way to represent Red Sea!

It was WAY less than last year, I guarantee that.

Less than last year? Maybe, but still tons of purple. Loud and cocky at the start and quiet and scurrying out with over 6 minutes still on the clock in the end...

Always great to beat the Vikes.

It looked like a dominating red wave on TV. The first quarter noise for the D was pretty ok too.
Good job locals!

In the smaller end zone it looked like a lot of purple. Otherwise, not as much.

There were way too many Vikings fans, BUT, I do not think there were as many as last year AND they were a lot less noticeable due to the outcome of the game. The best way to reduce the number of visitor's fans is to beat them. (choking them helps, but I can only get so many that way) When they pay good money to watch their team lose, it is not so much fun and they are less likely to be back. We did nothing last year to make Viking fans regret coming. This year it was clear that it was OUR house.

On TV, it looked like about 10% Vikings fans to me. I was pretty happy about that.

On the other hand, the stadium just did not seem very loud on TV.

It also looked like a ton of Cards fand had left early to mid 4th quarter.

Nice to see you own up to this reality earthsci... Shane and MigratingOsprey have some serious crow to chow on as well! My guess is that at best, the ration was 75% Cards, 25% Vikes fans.. But I believe it was less than that. If I had to stick a number on it, I would guess that there were less than 15,000 Vikes fans in attendance.

After that first TD it was pretty loud for the Vikings. We killed them so it got quiet. It was at least 25%

However, I believe the number of Vikes fans will be kept to a minimum... something in the order of 5,000 or less.

All I said was that there would be way more than 5,000 vikings fans there - sounds like that was dead accurate

MN teams are a big draw here - it's not a coincidence that the gophers keep ending up in the insight bowl

No, you said a lot more than that. You harped on the fact that UoP is not a loud stadium at all... I'm not gonna go back and dig up the quotes - of which there were several, but in short, as I said in that previous thread - you were wrong. Very, very wrong...

;)

Good grief you are lazy - normally it's for the accused to build a case

I'll even defend Shane a little as well as a pre-emptive measure

You are absolutely dreaming if you truly believe there will only be 5000 Vikes fans at that game. Youa re in for a rude awakening. There is a reason that tickets are selling for 8 to 10 times face value. Trust me it isnt Cardinals fans driving that demand.

shane said:
tell me there were approx 5000 there with a straight face

If it's not 5,000, it won't be any more than 10k.

me said:
82 - there will be way more than 5,000 viking fans

btw - that was the only attendance proclimation I made

the rest was on noise and I still have never heard that building be more than average volume

Not lazy at all... just don't enjoy the process of digging thru threads.

My point about there being no more than 10,000 Vikes fans could still prove to be correct. Many believe, as do I, that the number was far less than you and others had predicted. If you would say that they represented 20% of the fan base, that comes to approximately 13,000 people. Certainly feasible that that number could be even closer to the 10,000 I had previously mentioned.

As for the noise - you just refuse to accept that you are flat out wrong. That's cool... You are extremely naive, and extremely wrong... But stay with it dude. ;)

I'd say less than 30% is accurate. They certainly didn't have much reason to make noise after the 1st qtr.

It was not as loud as, for example, the playoff games last year. omg - that was loud!

Near us there was a Vikes fan with a J Allen jersey and a mullet-wig. Mid-way thru the 4th qtr he had taken his wig off and was stomping on it, LoL

does anyone dispute this to be the case?!

even if it was only 20% or 13,000 that is way more than 5,000

That's because Viking fans are bandwagoners to the core. :mulli:

I'd have said 25% Vikes fans by the look of Lot F, but inside it seemed like maybe less; don't know for sure. They certainly were quiet!

Oh, and at least to some extent it was Cards' fans driving up the price on the tickets. Guy in my office wound up paying $240 for a pair in the nosebleeds.
