ESPN's Adam Schefter stated on NFL Live Thursday that the Ravens may "very well" end up releasing Anquan Boldin after the Super Bowl.
Per Schefter, the Ravens are $5 million over the projected 2013 salary cap, "and that's before they get a deal done with Joe Flacco." Franchise tagging Flacco would put them roughly $20 million over the cap. Cutting Boldin would save Baltimore about $5.5 million. Although it's not a move the Ravens would like to make, "financial pressures" may force them to. Schefter added that releasing Jacoby Jones could free up another $3.5 million

Boldin has been their only big time WR in the clutch at the moment in my opinion, don't see how they could justify doing it but anything is possible

20 mill over the cap is how they justify it. They have no choice. How much will they save when Ray Lewis retires?

IDK why anybody should be worried. We were over our cap coming into this year as well and seemed to get it down, re-sign Campbell and D-Wash, restructure A-Dub, etc. We'll have no problem getting under the CAP again this year.

Not that anyone has said this, but it's a little implied... I don't see him coming back to play with AZ. We don't have the space either on the roster or under the cap to give him the kind of deal he'd want.

It's a shame though, I'd love to see him in a Cardinals jersey again, even if he's not the player he once was.

How far the mighty have fallen since demanding to be paid among the league's best. Can't help but laugh...

I guarantee he wont be cut... Harbaugh loves the guy. Im betting a restructure and smaller cap hit.

Wow, he was talking about how he was 'enjoying the SB', and now something like this comes out.

I don't see how he could possibly come back here but man did this offense miss him after he left.

Makes sense, he may even take less to stay there. He'll be 33 in October, best year are behind him.

So were the Atlanta defenders on Q's 71 yard romp for a TD in the first round of the playoffs in 2008. Warner was only 5-12 with that pass. But for 142 yards and 2 TDs!

Never forget that game. Cards are throwing it away after jumping to a 14-3 lead and 90 makes an awesome play and Rolle picks up the ball and takes it in for 6.

Especially given how he plays. Like Earl Cambell.

In any case, should they cut him, I can totally see him buying into the other Harbaugh's style of play and ending up with the niners.

I'd resign him without thinking twice about it

Why? Who's going to throw him the ball? Heck, if Fitz can't break 800 yards where would he fit on the totem pole.

And I love Q. If the Ravens cut him they are stupid. If they sign Flacco to a $20M/year extended deal they are stupid. He won't be as successful w/o Quan.

I don't know. The Ravens are the exact opposite of the Cardinals. 11-5 with 'em and 11-5 without 'em. Just for fun though Baltimore did go 5-11 in 2007. The only time they've had that record in franchise history.

I don't share the same sentiment. I didn't like how he handled the contract **** off record. But he left it ALL on the field. He is a great player. He wears his heart on his sleeve, which was a bad thing regarding the contract. But its just his character. He played his ass off for this team and I appreciate everything he did for us. Would love to see him back, but I don't see him or the team swallowing their pride even if the slim chance arose that it made good football sense
