Dumb, if he played for any other college we wouldn't give two craps about the dude.

I get the thought but honestly if you were designing a RB to fit the offense the Cards run, it's him. He's smaller than Conner and not as fast as Benson but the way he runs, violently between the tackles, the vision and cutbacks etc, it's literally perfect for our run offense.

My main issues on him as I've said before, he creates so much contact I fear his career will be shortened, and the refusal to go down in crowds concerns me about fumbling in the NFL

Yeah Clyde Duncan was the one that came to mind. And the second round pick of UCLA kicker Joh n Lee a couple years later was also baffling, as was Pisczarkwitz.

He also famously took Coryell and Terry Metcalf to lunch after we drafted Terry and said "so how do you feel about playing CB" to Terry. Before a stunned Terry could say a word Coryell said oh no, he's our new RB. Coryell had coached against Metcalf in college

Would be a nice third round pick. Has Emmit Smith type balance and strength with a low center of gravity. Nice stiff arm and doesn’t go down easy. Plus is good catching passes out of the backfield. I think he will translate to the NFL just fine.

So a baffling pick means Bill Bidwill orchestrated the selection?

I have to shake my head on this:)

Duncan was pretty widely said to have been Bidwill. It's been ages but the guy everyone thought we were taking was Louis Lipps, he went to the Steelers and was Offensive ROY and a great punt returner. Duncan when we picked him nobody had him in the first 3 rounds. We were told he didn't have an agent and Bidwill wanted him to be the pick because he thought he could sign him for far less money. It turned out he DID have an agent, the guy was a new agent and had instructed Duncan to tell everyone he didn't have an agent because he would get picked higher.

That pick cost us the playoffs that year, that was the year we lost to Washington the last game if we win we're in the playoffs. We desperatedly needed another WR and Duncan did nothing. Longtime fans will remember Roy Green a converted CB was the star WR, at one point that year we converted Cedric Mack to WR from CB because Duncan held out and then was a bust. Mack was amazing, he was always open, and always dropped the ball, there had to be at least 3 games where he had a TD and dropped it.
