I wanted to clear something up regarding his bio on the Cardinals website. They have him listed at 225 lbs. This is a typo. He is actually 247. At 6'2"/247, he is solidly built to be a MLB. He needs two things to happen before he's ready for any duty: a) he needs to get the confidence and the instincts back that he had before his ACL in 2003 and b) he needs to get a tiny bit more physical. Once these two things come together, he'll be a potential starter.

After watching him in the Dallas game, He needs to come along way before he will be ready to start. I thought he looked like a rookie out there. I didn't see very good reaction time from him. He seemed a bit lost out there. He does have good size. Your right that he needs to really boost his confidence. He's not the athlete that Gerald Hayes is, but I think after a year or two he might be ready.

I think both things are one in the same. Before the injury he was very physical.

"..And in this corner.."

I mentioned this about Lance Mitchell when the ?'s about his weight etc. first came up when he was drafted.. I think by the last preseason game you will see a HUGELY improved Lance Mitchell.. He may not be ready to take on Hayes's shoes by a longshot, but as first reserve in after they pick up a Vet this week, some of us will be quite surprised.. The Cards D just played outstanding the whole 1st half, and we want improvement every game..Same with the somewhat erratic play of the O.. Take Care!!

That's because...perhaps...he is.

You got me :D Some rookies get on the field and produce and look good and then some just look like rookies. Mitchell was one that just looked like a rookie. If that makes sense. Hopefully he will be much improved over the next three pre-season games.

I think it is going to take rookies longer and longer to adjust to the NFL every year.

The colleges are getting to the point where they play maybe two real games each season, against a traditional rival and a bowl game. They are playing too many inferior teams in non-conference and most of the conferences have problems with competitive balance as well.
