Alot was made last week of the possible impact of the roof having been "open" for the 49'ers game. S.F. looked VERY COMFORTABLE (ie; NO false starts, etc.) So, fast-forward to yesterdays' game. Once again, the Browns looked "comfortable" w/the roof-open. I'm watching from a sports-bar so I can't hear any sound. So, who was at the game?? What was it like?? DOES the "roof"/open or closed/ affect the sound??

loud

It is still very loud in there... but I'm sitting in the middle of the screaming people. The last defensive drive was amazingly loud.

Someone who is on the grass would have to make a judgement call as to if there is a noise difference.

My throat hurts just as much the next day. :)

Its not as loud with the roof open and its just not going to be. But you still got to put the top down weather permitting. God didn't intend for favorite sport to be played indoors. We'll just have cheer a little louder and rely on competent football by our Cardinals to make up for the difference.

Uggghhh... When will loud be loud enough?? How will one know if loud is loud enough?

I do know that when the time comes (if ever), that we can stem the amount of opposition fans to a normal few versus the large numbers we continually see, that stadium will be explosive. But even still, I am that believes that the stadium, roof open or not, is extremely loud - and WAY more loud than this poopy franchise had any right to expect...

there were a ton of empty seats and a lot of browns fans

also after the last FG i was amazed how many people started making their way toward the door

the environment was 100x better with the roof open - i was actually kind of cold in the 2nd half - it was nice

that's two weeks in a row then as I saw a ton of empty seats last week and more Niners fans than I expected. Let's face it, our fan base is still relatively small and it doesn't truly believe in this team yet.

This is true... There are also a ton of "season ticket holders" who each week, sell their seats - most often to fans of the opposing team. With more W's, this will become less an issue as well...

When the Chiefs had their run of good teams in the 90s, Arrowhead was deafning. Now, Qwest field is very loud, and is maybe the best home field advantage in the NFL. No roof on either.

Open the damn roof, it's stupid to have paid quadrillions for it and not use it like it was intended. The noise will take care of itself as a winning tradition builds.

Something about the acoustics of UOP makes the noise travel up and it all flies through the open roof.

Proof of this is the two jet liners that passed over the stadium and experienced turbulence while doing so. We need to close the roof to keep from damaging any other airliners.

Wasn't that the first game we ever won with it open? Pretty sure it was. It shouldn't have been as close as it was Pope dropping TD and them getting a BS TD!

I dont get this arguement. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to conclude that any noise made in a closed environment would be louder than one that is open. Quote of the day: "Common sense isn't really common, otherwise everyone would have some"

No and I have my father to blame.

My uncle passed away last week and the funeral was this morning. He lives in Syracuse, NY (where all of our fam lives). I was supposed to pick my dad up on my way up. When I got there he pansied out and said that the weather was gonna be too bad and his heart couldn't handle the pressure. When I drove home last night I thought about going to the game, but it was like 15 degrees out and I had a pair of jeans and a longsleeved T on. When
I got home I had to present my girly w/ my ticket to get her to let me watch the game in the living room.

The crowd was much more into it this game than last week. Once Gee came back, section 118 was all on its feet, unlike last week...he must whip them into shape. I looked back and checked and all the people who weren't standing last week were either not there anymore or standing.

I am writing off the Thanksgiving Stuffing Game crowd as holiday happy-to-be-theres. But that means our last two games will likely have the same "ooh, free tickets to a show" crowd as well.

Two plays after Pope's drop in the endzone Warner tossed a TD to B. Johnson...

I agree about the BS TD pass to Edwards, though.
