make a "trade" w/someone that may stand in your way someday!! (ie; The Eagles or ANY other N.F.C. team for that matter.) Granted he may get traded to the A.F.C. and then get re-routed back, but at least don't cut your own throat to start the proccess. I don't care what they're offering. Rest assured it will come back to bite us someday. So, while I am not happy at the realistic prospect of Fitz' leaving, I am resigned to the fact that it could happen. Life will go on. The sun will come up tomorrow. Etc. Etc. ...Or as my brother often says, "It'll be what it'll be." I just REFUSE to be an "emotional-hostage" in all this. I/WE don't deserve it!! So, GO CARDS!! With or with-out Fitz'.

To say NEVER trade someone is assinine. If the offer is right you part ways and move on. Fitz aint a guy that is going to have me shaking in my shoes ala a young Randy Moss.

Many years ago the Cardinals in baseball....

traded Keith Hernandez, an All-Star 1st baseman to the Mets for a .500 pitcher named Neil Allen. All Hernandez did was continue to be an All-Star and help the Mets to the 86' Championship. Neil Allen quickly disappeared. I'm NOT saying, "NO TRADING" at all. I'm saying NOT to a "rival" that can immediately hurt you.

Facts are correct...but did you know that Hernandez was a known druggie and the team at the time as you might know was owned by Anheuser Busch. Now, how would it look if a company like A-B was harboring a guy with an addiction while the were pumping out 20 million or so barrels of brew a year??? Not good for the value of the business. Once old man Busch died they sold the team soon after...they were not about to have guys in baseball uniforms making more money than the family or their other top execs.

Hey, Lobo

Yeah, I heard the "rumor" at the time about him but nothing seemed to come of it in the years after. Kinduv' strange. Anyways, you make a good point. But back to football, I was just saying that trading Fitz' to the Eagles might come back to haunt us. They're serious about their Super Bowl aspirations.

"Rick Ownby"?? LOL

Course, getting him REALLY "balanced" out the trade! (Sarcasm) (LOL) Like the time we sent Steve Carlton (Mr. Cy Young--NL) to the Phillies for (Mr. .500 W/L Rick Wise.

How about Larry Jackson and Lindy McDaniel for Don Cardwell? Jackson won 24 games the next season for the 8th place Cubs. 31% of Chicago's total for the year.

And the team hasn't been the same since. Too bad.

the Cards have three choices:

1) honor Fitzgerald's contract, give Boldin the same deal or better in the next year or so (or let Boldin go). Force veterans to take cuts, draft next to no one, and generally upset 52 players this year, next year, and the following.
2) restructure him this year or next, under Fitz's terms, give Boldin the same deal or better in the next year or so (or let Boldin go). Force veterans to take cuts, draft next to no one, and generally upset 52 players this year, next year, and the following.
3) trade him, save a ton of cap room, get draft picks and at least a Pro Bowl corner, and keep the rest of their talent relatively happy.

If I'm missing anything in the scenario (I'm sure I am), let me know.

Time for the front office to take there medicine for being idiots. Pay the man, extend Fitz before the end of the '08/'09 season & keep building through the draft.
A quality coaching staff is in place, it's time upgrade the front office (not necessarily Graves).

Don't forget about the Hershell Walker trade. If another NFC team is dumb enough to offer us something like that I think we have to take it, otherwise keep Fitz.
