We beat arguably the 2 of the 3 or 4 worst teams in the league, by 3 points each, with 1 game going into OT. I think that says it all, and is a dang good barometer of where we are at present.
Now, my real question is what happened to us to get us down to this level so quickly. We, in a couple years, went from SB hopefuls to wondering how high of a draft pick might secure. Now, if the blame goes to the coaching, then it seems obvious that they must go. If it is bad front office choices, poor drafting, and/or lacking foresight, then we need a change at the top in front offices.
If its not one of these, then do we fall back on that good old bad luck/injury excuse. Seems we have road that horse too many times already. There has to be a limit to how many rides you get on that old mare.
It appears we are not just ready, but father time has determined, that we have reached the lets start over point once again. Our old QB and WR still have a trick or two left each season as witnessed last afternoon. But one or two per year is just not enough. When you reach the point we are at, it seems prudent to wipe the slate clean and start a new era.
All signs point, to all except the blind and ignorant, to doing what the Rams finally have done. Bring in a fresh mind, young and enthusiastic, who is in touch with the game approaching the 2020 decade. A new offense all together with a fresh young QB, leading WR, and totally overhaulded OL is what is obviously needed. The time has come, and we can't continue to try to ignore it or put it off any longer. Enough of this false hope we are recently in the habit of rekindling each season.
We need a new modern team, to go with the new decade which is fast approaching. Thanks those who served us recently with dedication and hope, while graciously showing them to the door. Let's move on to a completely new Cardinal era, saying a fair goodbye to LF, our favorite son, CP our brave but old and beaten down QB, and most importantly, to an overall GM/Coaching plan that has served us for most of this century.
We had hope, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun, but its time to renew as Spring approaches soon.
