Comparing Dennis Green to Shottenheimer is like comparing Jim Hanifan to George Allen.
Comparing Dennis Green to Dick Vermeil is like comparing Rich Kotite to Bill Walsh.
Dennis Green doesn't have half of the passion that Shottenheimer has, nor one iota of the work ethic Vermeil has.
The comparisons are ludicrous.
allow me to explain where you are wrong.
I live in S. Cal - and a few years ago the Chargers were a laughing stock. Marty came in and roughed things up. He was tough and players were crying about it. He had a year or two of horrible football. The next offseason the S. Cal radio joked if local high schools could whip the Chargers....all offseason they laughed at them. Major media joked that the Chargers would be lucky to get 4 wins. The Chargers went out and won 10 games and all of a sudden on track to becoming a solid team. During the offseason the media still didn't buy in...they did it again....and now they are the toast of the town.
There is a comparison. Green should be given one more year.
What do we have to lose as fans? One more year if it doesn't work...big deal. If it does work, we could finally have a coach for the next 8-12 years...doing it his way.
Another coach comes in and wins with these guys I'll be the first to say, 'These are Green's guys....not his.'
