Red Sox unload Kim on Rockies

Associated Press
Mar. 31, 2005 12:00 AM

The Red Sox traded former Diamondbacks reliever Byung-Hyun Kim to the Rockies, calling the $10 million, two-year deal they gave him in 2004 "a mistake."

Kim was sent Wednesday to the Rockies for left-handed pitcher Chris Narveson, 23, who was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket, and catcher Charles Johnson, who was immediately designated for assignment and released.

As part of the trade, Colorado sent Boston about $2.6 million to equalize the salaries. Johnson is owed $9 million and Kim $6 million, part of the deal he signed before the 2004 season.

Maybe this little turkey will reach down, grab both his ears and pull his head out of his arse, and do some pitching....

But then again, maybe not.........

Rockies said they wanted to add a reliever 'with experience.'

That he knows how to pitch in big games - and win in big games.

Are they insane? Have they WATCHED the 2001 WS DVD? Do they recall he used to get 'injured' or needed 'a day off' when he was due to pitch at Coors?

Theo Epstein said "he was crying for a change of scenery, if ever anyone was." - or whining, maybe.

I'll wager Kim never starts for them at Coors.

Colorado is nothing but a rocky graveyard for pitchers... Have heard that BK's velocity has topped out at 86 of late, so it's no certainty that his woes are strictly due to the head case theory. Afraid his best years are behind him... there's a number of such flashes in the pan throughout baseball history.

Unload Kim?! They took on Charles Johnson who isn't better. (But both teams are paying each others salaries).

They immediately released Johnson... so not really taking him on.... just took him and dumped him

I was just reading about this same thing on a Red Sox board, he was throwing 93 a year ago and couldn't get over 85 this spring. So it sounds like he just lost it Mark Wohlers style

It's sad. I enjoyed watching him pitch. It was so unusual, and when he was on...he was just about unhitable.

Of course when he was off, he couldn't get anyone out, would walk tons of people, and just about give you a heart attack.

Well here's to him pitching against us in coors field. Where just like the stadium's name, a few pitchers will get (you) smashed.

Kim got shelled today against the Rangers and he aint even made it to Denver yet, heh.

I smell an injury on the horizon cuz he's not gonna walk from that paycheck.

Colorado is probably the worst place to where he could have been traded. That boy is gonna have a 16.50 ERA with all of those homers he is gonna allow
