Four-year veteran Elton Brown, a guard-tackle with Arizona, is scheduled to visit Redskins Park today, a league source said.

The Redskins hope to replace longtime right tackle Jon Jansen, considered the offensive line's weakest link last season, and Brown, who was born in Hampton, Va., and played at Virginia, could be a cost-effective option.

This worrys me a little. We tend to foreget EB because everyone on the Oline was healthy last year but he is a very valuable reserve who has played every position but center. If we don't retain him we need to find another swing man type player who fills multiple roles.

Another qualifying free agent to add to our pick compensation list

If he signs I believe that would be 3 losses and 0 signings (or does that safety we picked up count?)

Does not count. He was cut by the 49ers, so he doesnt qualify for the formula.

When was Elton Brown cut by the 49ers? We drafted him in 2005 and he has been here from then through last saeason? Disregard Joe I see you talking about the safety! :mulli:

And while we're talking about the Redskins and (ex)Cardinalplayers, the Skins have signed Dirk Johnson to punt for them. Haven't seen it posted before, and even though i know everone was trying to forget about him, here's the link

Good luck to E. Brown....he really wanted to play for Whisenhunt, losing 40 lbs to try to compete for the starting RG spot. Lutui BARELY beat him out. Wish him the best

Brown did a good job and will be missed. Last year when Levi went down I thought Brown played better. Also was shocked that he did not beat out Lutui for RG.

EB is a very valuable reserve, and could step in and play guard or tackle. The problem is that he probably doesn't see the opportunity to start. If the team breaks up a unit that performed very well, this past season, it will be at the center spot. Can EB play center?

According to azcentral, Elton isn't on the list of available free agents. Wondering if something got done with Washington and just hasn't been announced. Also not seeing anything on KFFL.
